Emotion and reason are mutually exclusive. The more emotion the less reason, the more reason the less emotion. Emotion is the more transcendent, being generated, while reason is a purposeful effort; emotion comes upon you while you have to force reason.

Of all the various aspects of life with which one must deal, the opposite sex is vastly the greater. A man working to apply reason is no match for a woman to whom debilitating oceans of emotion are effortlessly available.
