Strange doings in Virginia. George Allen, former governor, one-term senator, son of a famous football coach and in the midst of a heated battle for re-election, has just been outed as a Jew. An odd turn of events, given the fact that his having Jewish origins has nothing to do with anything in the campaign and that Allen himself was oblivious to the fact until his 83-year-old mother revealed to him last month the secret she had kept concealed for 60 years.

If you are talking about Spain, there was anything but honor in having a jewish forebear. But probably there are few families in Spain that don't.

No. For Halachic (Orthodox Jewish religious law) your mother has to be Jewish whether by birth or conversion, but for Aliyah different secular rules apply:

The paternal line is used to distinguish which tribe of Israelites one belongs(ed) to. Today only three groups are recognized - Cohanim (priests), Levites, and Israelites (everyone else).

The Gospel according to St Matthew Chapter 1 traces Jesus Christ's lineage from Abraham thru David and ultimately thru Joseph, Mary's husband.
The Gospel according to St Luke gives His lineage according thru Mary.
I'm pleased that you are proud of your Jewish heritage. Equally, I'm happy for Jewish Athiests to be, too -- for there are many. And also happy for some Christians to also consider themselves Jews (Christ was).

And which "myth" is that? That Christ was a Jew, descended from King David (a matter of historical record) Or that the Jews in Jerusalem proclaimed him Son of David (also a matter of record, see St Matthew 21:9-11)? Who said anything about the Acts of Pilate? The Gospels of St Matthew, St Mark, St Luke, and St John are not forgeries. And without exception, they were written by Jews, not Pagans...
