The words "global warming" provoke a sharp retort from Colorado State University meteorology professor emeritus William Gray: "It's a big scam."
And the name of climate researcher Kevin Trenberth elicits a sputtered "opportunist."
At the National Center for Atmospheric Research, where Trenberth works, Gray's name prompts dismay. "Bill Gray is completely unreasonable," Trenberth says. "He has a mind block on this."
Only 55 miles separate NCAR's headquarters, nestled in the Front Range foothills, from CSU in Fort Collins. But when it comes to climate change, the gap is as big as any in the scientific community.

Does that mean that designating California as a Global Warming State is a scam? Yes of course. Faux Science run amok. for dollars. Hold the corporations financially accountable and collect bazillions by suing them. That is what it is all about. Like Jesse Jackson's scam.
Some scientists say that if trends continue the oceans will rise by a yard in one hundred years. So?
The rest is just grants and politics.
How did this get past the editors ?
It is cold and snowy now.
Gorebal Warning of an upcoming Gorebasim in 2008. Count on it.
We're all going to die if the temperature rises by 2 degrees F. Everybody panic and shut down industry!!!!!!!
Deploy all cliomatologists and enviornmentalists to the Middle East to Plant trees.
The title.. "Global Warming"..
Gaia objected, said it was discriminatory and inferred it was the planet's fault..
The new, politically correct term is " Anthrogenic Climate Change".. ( or is it anthropogenic? )
At any rate, since ACC is now the relevent term, the editors simply ignored the article as it was incorrectly titled, and insensitive to boot..
As usual he is half right. But as to what we all should do about it he, he has a perfect score: he is completely wrong.
Moonbats, here is a test. What's wrong with these statements?
Sunrises have be occuring at different times each day. This is inconvenient. And they are caused by man.
We must launch a modern day Manhattan Project to properly regulate sunrises. the first thing we got to dump is automobiles...
Actually, a very balanced article. Hopefully, a few people will read it and understand it and the fact that we are all going to die (from global warming) has not been proven yet. The fact that we are all going to die has been proven however.
Bravo to Dr. Grey!
Try only 18,000 years ago.
The sea level has risen more than 120 meters since the peak of the last ice age, about 18,000 years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level_rise
Glaciers were up to a mile thick in North Dakota and up to 8,000 feet thick near Hudson Bay during the last ice age . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glacier
Global warming is truly happening but man hasn't had a significant role in causing it.
Well, since that hole in the ozone patched itself up, they had to come up with something new....
Depends on how you define GW...
If you define it as a natural occurance of the various cycles of the planet's weather, then it may well be considered "scientific fact".. Or, at least well grounded scientific theory...
It's when (certain scientists and politicians, etc.,) claim that it is the sole fault and responsibility of human activity that one begins to question the validity of their claims..
I would even go so far as to say that human activity has had a "contributory" effect on our climate..
But I would be hard pressed to say that it is the main factor, a major factor, or even an equal factor or "significant" factor..
IIRC, The World Health Organization did a study in the late 80's or early 90's concerning GW, and determined that it was probably real.. ( they didn't have the data we have today..which probably still isn't enough.. )
The WHO team was then asked what, if anything could be done about it..
The reply was, "nothing"..
Nothing.. Humanity does not have the capacity to change what is happening..
We may be able to slightly affect the course of change, slow it down a bit, ( or inadvertantly speed it up ) but we can't stop it..
We don't have the technology to radically change or control the planet's weather or ecology.. ( barring nuclear weapons and total deliberate destruction )
We would better spend our time understanding what is happening and preparing for any changes to our climate.. ( tree farming in Greenland might be a real opportunity.. Likewise, vinyards and wineries in New England and Canada may be profitable ventures.. )
It looks like we are returning to a climate model not seen for 1000 years, during the time of the Vikings, and Eric the Red, Lief Errickson, etc..
Greenland will actually be a green land again.. highly suitable for agriculture.. Southern England will be a tropical paradise.. lots of changes...
We will have to deal with it..

Yeah, sure. What does this guy know about anything?
What I want to know is if there is global warming where's the proof that it would be a bad thing?
