Nothing will motivate conservative evangelical Christians to vote Republican in the 2008 presidential election more than a Democratic nominee named Hillary Clinton not even a run by the devil himself.
That was the sentiment expressed by the Rev. Jerry Falwell, longtime evangelical icon and founder of the once-powerful Moral Majority, during private remarks Friday to church pastors and activists as part of the "Values Voter Summit" hosted this weekend by the country's leading Christian conservatives.
A recording of Falwell's comments was obtained by the Los Angeles Times.
"I certainly hope that Hillary is the candidate," Falwell said, according to the recording. "She has $300 million so far. But I hope she's the candidate. Because nothing will energize my [constituency] like Hillary Clinton."
Cheers and laughter filled the room as Falwell continued: "If Lucifer ran, he wouldn't."

Well, at least it is a compliment.....
He's right. Satan could probably convince some of the agnostic libertarians to stay home. But they'd come out to oppose Hillary! :)

" Hillary Clinton could outdraw the devil, Falwell says ^"
Ummmmmm....
Six-guns at high noon??
;)
She could outdraw the devil -- she and the Little Man. This "global aids initiative" is a perfect example. Richard Branson is going to finance her presidential campaign.
The Clintons are the poster children of Despicable and Ruthless.
I'm yo Huckleberry...
...and anyone who doesnt get that reference can just go to *Hillary's*... =P
Nut-boy chavez saw him in the - "united nothing" - building the other day???
And they'd literally go through hell to do so.
Typical..the media trying to blunt Chavez's remarks about the President being the devil, by digging up this private remark by Falwell against Hitlery.
Amen! She's already been chosen, just have to play-act out an election for the masses...
Hillary isn't satan. For Christians to be more likely to object to Hillary than satan is not something to be proud of.
I wouldn't bet the farm on THAT statement .....
I don't know about that, Pastor Falwell. My understanding is that Satan, at least, can do a convincing impression of an angel of light. Hillary? Fuggeddaboudit. That ain't happenin'.
piaps would have to outlaw herself!!!!
Falwell had better be careful making these kind of remarks against a Clinton. He may be found committing suicide some where in Va.
Stranger things have happened surrounding the Clinton's!
Hillary isn't Satan, but many of us believe her husband is the anti-christ and that she is one of his minions.
Did Barry Lynn make this same type of comment when Chavez called our president the devil?
I'm not holding my breath on that one.
We understand the reference but I'll bet you don't know what it means.
