Check out the top 120 U.S. cities vulnerable to terrorism. See if you are in one of them or not. A lot of people will be. For my entire life, I've been in a selection of those cities listed.

The Department of Homeland Security has listed some cities in the U.S. at high risk for terrorist attacks --

Muzzies don't need a Manhattan project. They have suitcase nukes from Russia and North Korea (and maybe Pakistan too).
Interesting link. But I really don't think Jackson, MS is as attractive to aq as NYC and DC. The cities with the greatest symbolic appeal are tops. Here's the way I view it: if aq had 3 nukes, which 3 US cities would they destroy? Gotta be NYC, DC, and LA. You have a different list?
But fear of Thermonuclear War on the US soil against 12 or so cities is not something I will let rule my life.
People should be more worried about hugging their spouse, doing something for their kids, and getting right with the maker than going around digging a bomb shelter, purchasing duct tape by the case, and stocking up on iodine pills.
You said -- "People should be more worried about hugging their spouse, doing something for their kids, and getting right with the maker than going around digging a bomb shelter, purchasing duct tape by the case, and stocking up on iodine pills."
Well.., for most people my main concern would be their relationship to Jesus Christ. And then, it would be to their family. After that, I would go on down the list and get to the other prudent measures. And they would be there (to tell them, too).
As for me, I've already covered the main ones and I'm on down the list.

You said -- "You have a different list?"
I don't make the lists, but I see one list that gives a "ranking" -- and it goes (1, 2, 3)
1. New York
2. Chicago
3. San Francisco
That's your ranking and a "different list".

You also said -- "But I really don't think Jackson, MS is as attractive to aq as NYC and DC."
Another thing to consider in these kinds of things is the kinds of security that will be evident in New York versus Jackson, MS -- when you can kill an equivalent number of people.
It might be very, very easy to do it in Jackson, while maybe not in New York.
And there you have the problem...

The worst timing ever...just before an election...HA HA this would kill any chance the dimwits even thought they had to win seats.
Just a sidebar:
If you haven't seen it, The History Channel had a good episode on
their "Lost Worlds" series about Oak Ridge.
(hopefully it will be rebroadcast some time)
It's amazing how freakin' big the place was; it's a shame high school history
classes don't cover this topic well.
Is a suitcase nuke big enough to blow up an entire city?
My impression is that a suitcase nuke, without the expert technology of US radiologists, would only have a total destruct zone of about 10 city blocks.
Of course that doesn't account for radiation fallout.
The fallout will be insignificant, although from the howling of welfare recipeints and the avalanche of ACLU lawsuits you'd think hell had opened and Satan had barfed on the city.
You are right...suitcase nukes will not take a city out...
Seeings how you've got a nearly 'critial mass' of some nuclear material in some physical proximity, and seeings how nuclar reactions are taking place in this mass, releasing among other things, heat, what is the at rest, terminal temperature said nuclear mass reaches while mounted within whatever framework or container it is mounted? Also take into consideration whatever 'outer container' (such as a suitcase or foot locker) will do insofar as reducing the direct convection cooling that exposure to air open air would normally provide ...
I think it interesting that both the attack talk and Osama's death talk came out very close together. What if the signal to go ahead with the attacks were that word of OBL's death had gone out! They've always had a signal, some form of verbal notification to go ahead with their plan and it wouldn't surprise me that they would use Osama's death (real or not) as the catalyst for their next level of terrorism...If it were my choice of action I'd choose the following immediately: 1) Lock-down on the borders with our military personnel (NO, ABSOLUTELY NO FOREIGNERS INSIDE THE COUNTRY ALLOWED) 2) All MOSQUES Power shut down by local power companies - it's hard to hold meetings if you don't have power 3)Round up all the Mosque priests and fly them to GUANTANAMO BAY "TO interact with MuSLEM PRISONERS" and leave them there...period)
OTOH, I heard on this morning's news what I believe was a moslem saying that Islam had to do some work on its image. That might be one of those historic moments if he is not the only one who thinks so.

Yes..., I suppose that would be a historic moment -- when we get Muslim #1 to admit that. Only 1.8 billion more to go.
[I think we're in for the "long haul", however... , if you count the number of minutes it would take to talk to the other 1.8 billion]

Who is Hugh Cort and how does he know this?
Did bin Laden's ghost tell him?
If you can't get hold of any POTASSIUM IODIDE pills, get yourself a small bottle of plain old iodine but, DO NOT TAKE LIQUID IODINE internally as it is POISON - just smear on a large circle of liquid iodine on your abdomen or inside your upper arm - refreshing it as it absorbs into the skin for several days in the event of a nuclear explosion.
Let's hope and pray this doesn't happen, but doing and learning a few simple things ahead of time makes for less panic if something should happen.
Not for me. My son lives in NYC, along with a lot of other people's kinfolks.
