Why I am with the Leader of the Free World
http://www.indianexpress.com/sunday/story/13306.html
"Few days ago the news agencies had reported that the Defence Secretary of the Crusading Americans had said that "the explosion at Riyadh and Al-Khobar had taught him one lesson: that is not to withdraw when attacked by coward terrorists"."
"We say to the Defence Secretary that his talk can induce a grieving mother to laughter! and shows the fears that had enshrined you all. Where was this false courage of yours when the explosion in Beirut took place on 1983 AD (1403 A.H). You were turned into scattered pits and pieces at that time; 241 mainly marines solders were killed. And where was this courage of yours when two explosions made you to leave Aden in lees than twenty four hours!"
But your most disgraceful case was in Somalia; where- after vigorous propaganda about the power of the USA and its post cold war leadership of the new world order- you moved tens of thousands of international force, including twenty eight thousands American solders into Somalia. However, when tens of your solders were killed in minor battles and one American Pilot was dragged in the streets of Mogadishu you left the area carrying disappointment, humiliation, defeat and your dead with you. Clinton appeared in front of the whole world threatening and promising revenge , but these threats were merely a preparation for withdrawal. You have been disgraced by Allah and you withdrew; the extent of your impotence and weaknesses became very clear. It was a pleasure for the "heart" of every Muslim and a remedy to the "chests" of believing nations to see you defeated in the three Islamic cities of Beirut , Aden and Mogadishu.
Okay, I've listened to Bill Clinton and I, as expected, have the single and ONLY way this man can get out of this hole in which he's dug himself.
First, never mind his ridiculous and childish blame-casting to HIS CIA and FBI...we're not fooled out here in la-la land. We all work and we have children. Shamed co-workers and children tend to cast aspersions on others when things go bad and we understand this. Second, Richard Clarke's sudden ascendency to sainthood astounds. The man was obsessed with a possible Cyber-war and go with me on this, the danger was airplanes, hijackings and buildings. Hardly the stuff of a visionary.
Finally, that sound and sight bite of Clinton waving his finger at us fools, squinting his eyes at the collective bunch of idiots we are, and his angry phrase "I did NOT have sex with that woman...Ms. Lewinsky" is something Bill can never erase. THIS is the killer and when it was viewed in context of the terrorist events leading up to the 9-11 attacks, it gave viewers a sobering and real quick analysis of just what went wrong. We get it out here in la-la land and Bill Clinton's anger, finger-pointing and accusations won't change what we all know.
All that being typed, I have the only way that Bill can redeem himself. For he will NEVER get beyond that Monica sound byte and ABC's "Path to 9-11" effectively put it in context. No amount of editing and nuance could ever change that killer of a nationally televised vignette.
Bill Clinton needs to be a manly man and step up to the podium and admit the error of his ways. He needs to admit that his personal failing might have affected his judgement on all matters terrorists. Hell, he can, and truthfully, defend himself by asserting that since that big 9-11 attack didn't happen on his watch and because of this, he did not have the collective will of the American people as Bush had. If he's really sincere, he will point out that this is certainly not Bush's fault, just the timing of the attack. Had that attack happened during his administration, Clinton could assert, he would have enjoyed the support of the American people that he never had even with the embassy attacks, the Cole, etc. Not saying I'd agree with Clinton but it's a valid defense.
There's one major glitch with my description of how Bill Clinton could redeem himself.
HE HAS TO REALLY MEAN IT
Not gonna happen. The Clintons are too used to having toadies and sycophants carry their baggage for them. Such as personal responsibilty and integrity is not in their vocabulary.
They sure touted the interview beforehand as must see, but the response is tepid at best from the panel.
"Russert doing clean up for Clinton?
Let Clinton appear measured and trash the FNC interview?"
Hi everyone!
Just popping in for a little while today.
I heard Jim Pinkerton say earlier on FNC that he thinks that Bubba's 'rage' on FNS was to 'trash' (paraphrasing) Fox (right-wing conspiracy channel, don't ya know). He said that right after that interview, it was immediately posted to the Center for American Progress's web site (John Podesta is CEO of this group). I just went to the web site but couldn't find the interview.

I did a search and didn't find it on any site but Fox; however, it searching for Wallace-Clinton interview, I found this on the American Prospect web site. - Mike Wallace interview w Louis Freeh in 2005. I had forgotten that, just like the ruckus the Clintonistas made about the Path to 9/11 and wanting to change the script, they also wanted CBS to let them on 60 Minutes last year to call Louis Freeh a liar. Here's the liberal spin on that:
60 Short Minutes
Prospect exclusive: Clinton aides fire back at CBS for its one-sided report.
By Greg Sargent
Web Exclusive: 10.19.05
As if the tale of Mike Wallace, Louis Freeh, and Bill Clinton weren't strange enough, it turns out that there's more to the story. A great deal more.
In recent days, CBS and Wallace have taken a pummeling for granting Freeh, the former FBI director, airtime on 60 Minutes to criticize Bill Clinton without allowing Clinton administration officials any meaningful chance to counter Freeh's sensational charges.
The now-notorious interview took place on October 9, when Freeh spoke extensively with Wallace about his new book, My FBI, which makes a scathing accusation: In a 1998 meeting, Freeh claimed, the former president failed to press Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to let the FBI question Saudi-held suspects in the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing -- and instead hit up the Crown Prince for a financial donation to his presidential library. CBS insisted that Clinton himself respond to these and other charges in the book. When Clinton declined, the network refused to allow any Clinton aides -- including those present at the meeting in question, all of whom deny Freeh's version of events -- to offer an on-air rebuttal. Under intense pressure, CBS agreed to read a brief statement from Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger. CBS's decision provoked sharp criticism from the people at Media Matters and elsewhere.
Yet this tale turns out to be even murkier than it first appeared. Indeed, a close look at the bitter behind-the-scenes back-and-forth between CBS and the Clinton camp in the runup to Wallace's interview reveals fresh details about the whole saga -- and raises further questions about CBS's journalistic conduct.

The American Prospect was founded in 1990 as an authoritative magazine of liberal ideas, committed to a just society, an enriched democracy, and effective liberal politics. Robert Kuttner, Robert Reich, and Paul Starr launched the magazine initially as a quarterly.

We founded the Prospect out of a conviction that the conservative undertow in American political life is profoundly influenced by the dominance of conservative media and think tanks. Our conservative counterparts have played a critical role in pulling the entire national debate to the right. We intend to take it back.
I wonder why they folded?
BDS
Because BJ threatened Wallace and Fox as soon as the cameras stopped rolling??
AWOL soldier plans to return from Canada

No, I didn't see that. Amazing. Thanks!
I found Brit and Barnes responses to be disappointing. They are trying to be politically correct I guess so Clinton will agree again to appear on Fox. Now in the interest of "evenhandedness," the panel will now address the national intelligence estimate that the threat of terrorism is worse after 9/11 and Iraq. The implication is that doing nothing [like Clinton] would have left us safer.
