Crist Drops Pastor From Advisory Panel

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Republican gubernatorial nominee Charlie Crist has removed a pastor who once called Islam a "cult" from his policy council, campaign officials said.

Rev. O'Neal Dozier, who once told a crowd of pastors that Jesus Christ told him Crist would be the next governor, was taken off the "Strengthening Florida's Families" advisory panel Friday, said Erin Isaacs, Crist's deputy campaign press secretary.

A statement from the Crist campaign said the candidate respects Dozier's right to express his political and religious beliefs, but he does not agree with Dozier's views on Islam.

"Charlie Crist believes that we must not confuse those who practice any religion with a prayer toward peace with extremists who pervert religion to further a radical cause," the statement said.

Dozier, who has led the charge against a mosque moving to a predominantly black section of Pompano Beach, had been one of Crist's key black supporters.

The pastor of Worldwide Christian Center in Pompano Beach said he was told he was being removed from the council "because of the pamphlets I've been passing out in the area where the Muslims want to move."

"I am really hurt about it," Dozier said. "There's no place for those who want to do the work of God in politics. Politicians want you to support them, but they are not going to support you."

This is somewhat of a knee-jerk move by Crist.

He could have settled this issue privately with Dozier.

It's certainly a nasty thing to do to a friend. But it's also plain stupid. If he was trying to avoid controversy, he certainly picked a p*ss poor way to go about doing it. He deserves to lose, frankly.

We have moved from Florida a few months ago, but had we not, I would have NOT voted for Charlie Crist. He is a career politian, who I believe has no true beliefs and instead does the licked finger to the wind action to determine what he thinks. Several years ago, myself and dozens of others went to the Florida capital to give comments on what was called the "Women's Right to Know Act". The purpose was to ensure women seeking abortions from clinics or doctor's offices be given a pamphlet and explained the risks of the procedure physically and emotionally and also the alternatives available to them should they decide to continue their pregnancies.

Many "post-aborted" women testified, many tearfully, about how finding out the truth about what they had done AFTER the fact (sometimes years or decades earlier) had caused serious emotional problems that lead many into self-destructive acts without understanding the real reasons why.

Charlie Crist, who had proclaimed he was "pro-life" refused to support the legislation and without his support, the law died on the vine. I have never been so disappointed in a law-maker in my life, At least with the Dems, you knew where they stood. But Crist could have voted in favor and the law would have had a chance.

He is a "wolf in sheep's clothing" and I would NOT support him as govenor.

"Not Crist" for anything, has been my position for some time.
I am sorry he attained the Republican Party nomination for Governor, but I will still vote "not Crist" for anything.
Perhaps ya'll are just clueing into stark reality, a little too late.
Looks like we will end up with a Democrat Florida Governor, since there is no viable third party candidate.
Hopefully, he only gets one term.

Tough to be a pastor and get fired by Crist.

Ask Floriduh Voter about his role in the murder of Terri Schindler (Schiavo.)

Crist needs CHRIST before he is up to the task of
being the GOV of Florida.

May God Almighty protect the citizens of FL from this fraud!

Islam is a death cult. I don't know why our leaders been over backwards to be so sensitive. Doesn't Charlie Crist know Al Qaeda's leader just starred in a home-made snuff film??
