Sept. 11 inscriptions spark outrage

Inscriptions etched into Arizona’s Sept. 11 monument — meant to inspire and capture the horror of the terrorist attacks — sparked the beginnings of a political blog battle this week.

*snip*

One inscription states, “You don’t win battles of terrorism with more battles.” Another: “Congress questions why CIA and FBI didn’t prevent attacks.” And another reads, “Erroneous US air strike kills 46 Uruzgan civilians,” referring to a wedding reportedly hit by mistake in Afghanistan.

One inscription states, “You don’t win battles of terrorism with more battles.”

They cut off part of that statement.  It should read like this...

“You don’t win battles of terrorism with more battles.  Just lay down and die.  It's our fault anyways.  We've oppressed the world.  We deserved this to happen to us.  Just go back to your normal lives and pretend this never happen.  9/11 really didn't affect you anyways.  This is New York's problem not yours.  You had nothing to do with it, except to vote for the idiots who caused all this.  You're a bad person.  A very bad person and no matter what a Islamic terrorist does to you or your country, you deserve it because you caused global warming.”

Hopefully, we'll be able to add Islamofascism soon.

Ms. Lucas,

You put the below Quotes in the article with NO follow-up.

It was CLEAR that many of the etchings WERE political, why didn't you ask a follow up question?

This issue is getting National attention, why did you do "Half" an article on it. We, (Arizona), are being embarrassed Nationally, we need to clarify where this came from.

Please investigate this further, find out what political biases caused this to be Protest Sculpture and NOT a Memorial. This is the type of effort that I would expect from the AZ Republic, not from a good paper like yours.

Thank you for your attention to this matter,

Mike Davis

"Tempe resident Donna Bird, whose husband Gary was killed in the attack, was among the 30-member Arizona 9/11 Memorial Commission created by former Gov. Jane Hull in 2002.

She said all the inscriptions were found factual by an Arizona State University history professor. She added that she wouldn’t have helped design the memorial, which names her husband, if it were political."

So you don't see the difference between a private individual or group funding there own political speech in whatever manor they choose, and the government using tax money, collected by force from the people, to fund partisan political speech, as long as you agree with the taxpayer funded speech?

How...progresive of you.

I'm still hoping someone will, "Do the right thing."

We cannot win this war with the type of people who would build this, living among us, unchallenged.

Your revised and completed "statement" is hilarious and spot-on. I would add another sentence, however:
"... you deserve it because you caused global warming. Now grab your prayer rug and face Mecca."
