It advised company officials to focus on other issues that were more capable of selling lift tickets.

And they had to pay someone for that common-sense advice?

Fresh Snow Blankets Colorado Rockies
Slideshow: First Snow In The Mountains
(CBS4) DENVER With a record season under their belt, Colorado ski resorts enjoyed the first significant snowfall of the 2006-07 winter season after more than half a foot of fresh snow blanketed the Colorado Rockies this past weekend.

“We have been seeing light snowfall in the high country for several weeks now, but this is the first significant accumulation in the state,” said Rob Perlman, President & CEO of Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA). "If this is any indication of what’s to come, we are in for yet another fantastic Colorado winter season with plenty of powder.”

North to south, ski areas across the state received snowfall this past weekend. More than half a foot of snow blanketed Steamboat Ski Resort on Saturday morning. Beaver Creek received six inches of snow, four inches fell at Wolf Creek and Aspen received two inches of snow over the weekend. In Telluride, John Mayer had to don the winter jacket yesterday as the snowflakes continued to fall during his concert at the Telluride Brews and Blues Festival.

The new snowfall kicked the annual race to Opening Day into high gear. For six consecutive years, Colorado’s Loveland Ski Area has been the first resort in North America to open with opening dates often in mid-October. While Loveland tries to make this year number seven, Arapahoe Basin has mountain operations crews on standby ready to fire up the snowmaking guns as soon as possible.

“It’s hard to believe ski season is just about a month away,” Perlman said. “With both Arapahoe Basin and Loveland preparing to make snow any day now, and Mother Nature helping us out, Colorado will be open for skiing and riding before you know it.”

They can afford to move the whole thing indoors if the Dubai arabs can have a ski slope in the Gulf.

That's okay, we'll have more skiing here in Florida! And you don't have to wear expensive winter clothing! In fact, you can do it naked!.............

So the southern Rockies would be habitable year round and the Canadians will be able to open up vast areas that were previously too cold to ski. Alaska also looks to do well.

Tell me again what the bad news is in global warming alarmist theories.

Ski areas in Oregon had the most snow that they have had in years last year. Some of the ski areas on Mt. Hood were getting snow fall last week.

Wasn't there a photo this week from Colorado showing an Einstein Statue with a snow dusting (in Sept!)

It is going to be another banner year for skiing this year. Last year we skiied our butts off in Montana. I have a feeling we're going to have a better year this year. I got a brand new pair of Solomon Scream skis and I can't wait to hit the slopes. I'll be skiing well into my sixties. I'm not worried about the sport going away.

I figure I have about 12 to 15 more good years of skiing left in me. After that I'll be ready for warmer weather.

On Wednesday, the company unveiled a new advertising campaign for the 2006-07 season that centers around the message that snow — and skiing — will disappear around 2100 if humans don’t take drastic action to slow global warming.

When does the Aspen airport close to private aircraft?

I will bet $10 that none of todays Aspen's billionaires will be skiing in 2100.

Good! Telluride and Snowmass will appreciate the extra business.

Aspen has been too expensive compared to its North American Competitors for >20 years.
