Everybody has a right strike, but nobody has a right to remain employed at a job they went on strike from.

They will just transfer to other public schools, you have that option in Michigan and the $6700 in funding per child goes to the new school.

The government, will simply raise taxes to cover the shortfall instead of sueing the unions out of business.

Not if Dick DeVos wins the governor's race. The Republicans in the Michigan Legislature have proposed a bill to make it easier to assess fines to the illegal striking teachers. They will each have to pay a fine equivalent to a day's pay for every day they remain on strike.

That ought to shorten their strikes.

I don't know about that. The Eastside is rapidly filling up with Chinese - most of them are coming from New York because they found out how cheap they can buy a house in Detroit. There is an enclave of them in the Greiner/Outer Drive/Gratiot area and it is growing all the time.

All schools should be private, K-12 to college to graduate schools. The government should get out of the education business. Parents should incorporate new private elementary, middle and high schools, removing states and counties from the business of educating their children. Remove government subsidies and teachers' unions.
