Former Miss Texas contestant was accused of sexual relationship with student, 18
Denton County grand jury on Thursday declined to indict a 25-year-old Hebron High School teacher and former Miss Texas contestant who made national headlines in June after she was arrested and charged with having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.
Amy McElhenney, who taught Spanish and was a cross-country coach at the Lewisville ISD school, was charged under a law that outlaws sexual relationships between educators and students even if the sex is consensual and the student is of legal age. In Texas, the age of consent is 17.

Innocent then, I presume.

If I remember the photo correctly, she's innocent.

was charged under a law that outlaws sexual relationships between educators and students even if the sex is consensual and the student is of legal age. If of legal age (18) I do not think this law would hold up to an appeal.

outlaws sexual relationships between educators and students even if the sex is consensual bet this makes college professors a little more comfortable

The real question is, what posesses these women to become involved sexually with their students? A 25 year old woman who's been through college and worked a couple of years and an 18 year old boy still in high school can't have a whole lot in common, except maybe Spanish class.

OH, she's guilty all right.
Of being HOT, HOT, HOT!!!
(which means a no-bill as the guys on the panel would say "no harm,
no foul" even if she did the deed. Multiple times!)

If of legal age (18) I do not think this law would hold up to an appeal. You would think the same ruling that protected gay sex due to privacy would apply here.

Of course she is. Those silly laws don't apply to attractive women!

That too. But I was thinking more along the line of how is it a crime between 2 legal aged adults? She could be fired for breaking her contract/conduct but no way is this a crime.
