In an ABC News story by its Rome correspondent Martin Seemungal, Pope Benedict XVI was compared to an attack dog the Rottweiler during Seemungals extraordinarily biased coverage of the Muslim uprising over the Pontiffs recent comments. At first reading, I had to remind myself I wasnt on the Al-Jazeera News website.
ABC News said: Pope Benedict, nicknamed Gods Rottweiler because of his conservative views, staked out a much harder line right from the beginning. Of course, ABCs reporter doesnt reveal to the reader who gave Benedict that name denizens of liberal-left newsrooms, thats who. If conservative views make you a Rottweiler, what do liberal views make you? A French Poodle.?
The Pope has had this nickname since before he was even Pope. It wasn't the media who gave it to him, I don't think.
Over HERE!
Martin Seemungal; What is a See mun gal? Does it work the streets of Rome or just in a casa di puttana?
Isn't ABC the one that have the View with the lizbo on the show now???
I wouldn't waste my time reading or watching or listening to anything All But Crap has to offer....
Poodles are high on the intelligence list in the dog world. Aren't they just second to Border collies? Please don't give liberals this credit!
Another nickname is the "PanzerPope."
Neither are bad nicknames. But, they are there because of his GERMAN heritage. NO ONE would have done that with him if he were of any other heritage.
The anti-German bias reared its ugly head a long time ago. Mind you, it's OKEY-DOKEY to be anti-German but ANY OTHER KIND OF BIGOTRY OR RACISM is VERBOTEN on this site or with our P.C. world -- German vintage excepted.
Just a tiny double standard here.
Lol. Poodles are German dogs, not French.
The three of the four smarter dogs, Shephard, Doberman, Poodle, are German. The top smart dog is, I think, the Aussie sheep herder.
If you want to insult, then you name the dumb dogs, bulldogs, Afghan hounds, etc. They are NICE doggies, but not up there with the brain box.
No. Not a poodle. I'm no fan of poodles, but they are intelligent. In fact, no dog at all. Consider a weasel, a snake, a vulture. What about a cockroach? They slither around in dark places, afraid of the light. Or a rat; they do the same. Yes. That's it. A rat.
Have you been introduced to the Australian cattle dog. Mine is the smartest dog I have ever seen. It's like she is carrying on a conversation with you and will obey any command.
No I haven't, but I wouldn't be surprised. It's another "herder" dog and they HAVE to be smart to understand human commands.
What's her opinion on George W. Bush? :o)
Sorry. I did a search on "Pope" and "Dog"--but did not get your post.
You know, some people on "our side" sit around looking for things to be offended by, just like the Muslims to.
I had a Poodle once.
It was a nasty little critter who yelped at everyone, and was fond of biting little children and other living things.
One day he did not follow me home. Good riddance.
Worst breed of dog that I have ever personally encountered. Fitting to be compared to the Democrats/Liberals who are forever biting the hand that feed them.
would catholics feel better if abc news compared the pope to a cat?
I wonder if the Catholics will riot over this?
Stupidly misleading headline of the month award.
This Catholic anyway has always understood that nickname as a compliment! ;-)
In my entire lifetime, I don't think I have ever heard an anti-German sentiment... anti-NAZI, yes, but that is different.
