McQueeg would have washed out of Naval flying school, if his father and grandfather had not been Admirals at the time; he CRASHED four planes, acted as though he was better than everyone else, and was at the bottom of his class.

When he crashed yet another plane, this time into Vietnam, the minute he was found by the Cong, he pulled an "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" kind of thing. Instead of just supplying them with his name, rank, and serial number, he told then that his father and grandfather were ADMIRALS! And yes, he also spilled his guts some more, not long after that.

Not all POWs are "heroes".

What you mistakenly call "venom", is just a normal reaction to the facts; facts that you apparently don't know.

What are your sources? The vietcong?

According to you his father's rank explains why he got into and graduated from the Naval Academy, why he became a pilot, why he did not smoke himself during training, why he remained a pilot, retired at the rank of Captain and supposedly why he received special treatment from the north vietnamese. If so, why did he spend over five years in Hanoi?

Tinfoil.

A poor pilot would have planted himself on the ramp of an aircraft carrier, admiral father or not. Most pilots get only one chance to do that. Do you know what a ramp is? Naval aviation does not suffer incompetents. The training alone has a way of weeding out weak players. McCain's honors include the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross.

For John D, two minutes (not four days) under the water board will make anyone sing.
