SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: On last Friday's broadcast of HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," host Bill Maher sparked a controversy when he said that the "CBS Evening News" with Katie Couric invited him to appear in their "Free Speech" segment and then didn't want him to discuss religion. Now the executive producer of the "CBS Evening News" has since responded with this statement.
"Bill Maher was never told that he couldn't discuss religion in a "Free Speech" segment. In fact, "Free Speech" has already addressed religion and we expect others will in the future."

I can't believe the star of such great works as "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death" and "Pizza Man" would not be permitted to opine on any of the hundreds of topics on which he's an expert.

Bill Maher is a Karl Rove robot who seeks to totally destroy the credibility of liberals.
...or so it seems.

Taking BM's word over CBS is like trusting a snake over a vermin.

In the interest of common decency and intelligent intercourse, he should be muzzled. His schtick wore out about ten years ago! Politically Incorrect? He's the most PC whoremonger to ever come down the pike!

I saw him on Hannity last night. CBS realized that he was going to perform a suicide bombing of his own credibility on their show and didn't want to get hit with the blast. He was going to go after Christians and they saw a boycott coming and banned him.
I wish he had gone on the air.
You are right though, he is so politically incorrect, that he would have attacked Christians...Christians mind you!... on TV. Who would have ever thought to do such a thing.

I decided several years ago that Bill Maher had nothing to offer intellectually or entertainingly. He is just an ugly, nasty, little man who is consumed with his own imagined importance. I can't understand why anyone would want him as a guest or why a network would hire him as a host.

My sentiments exactly. Maher is a Christophobic bigot and wanted yet another opportunity to say so on national TV, but CBS was too smart to allow such a surefire ratings- killer to occur.

I see Katie and CBS have stepped in it again. This is too rich. Lefty Maher exposes their 'not so' free speech segment! No one could make this stuff up, LOL!

Don't forget he was in
House II, too.
But I forgot/didn't remember him from Avocado Jungle.
I rarely watch CBS at all, and don't remember the last time I went to them for news.
However, there just might be the possibility that CBS thought they needed some diversity of topics.
Or they wanted Maher to create an anti-Bush publicity stunt, rather than going after Christians.
To: Xenalyte
...um, because there was a good response...

See how we're answering each other? That's bumping this thread.
If you go to the original thread you posted, and post something on it - even to yourself - that'll bump that thread and make it visible to FReepers.
