LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Southern California formally complained that ABC-TV's Brent Musburger revealed privileged information in play-by-play commentary during Saturday's game against Nebraska.
The university sent a letter to ESPN, which oversees sports programming on ABC, saying Musburger, with less than 10 minutes to play and the Trojans leading 21-10, began describing how USC quarterback John David Booty lets receivers know he has spotted a certain kind of coverage.

So when it comes to sports, it seems the academics do have an issue with revealing secrets. The MSM, meanwhile, is at least consistent.
USC should just go back to paying their players.
ESPN is very anti-USC. I have noticed this now in the last two games they covered. Against ARK they were very anti SC and now this.
Well, we are USC and will prevail against 11 on the field and several in the booth.
Go Trojans, Fight On.
Players need to learn not to give protected information to sportscasters. Sportscaster needs to learn some common sense and not take advantage of youth.
USC is supposed to be some hotshot college out in California, isn't it?
Why all the noise about a quarterback named Booty? And how he reads coverage?
Perhaps, in the future, he could use the Vulcan hand sign?
It worked OK at the Vulcan Science Academy.
Oh, woe! Those poor, put-upon martyrs at USC!
Way to bring up a totally untrue accusation on an unrelated topic.
Quite a turn when compared to just a year ago.
As a Husker fan...let's face it ..MUSHBERGER could have given us a copy of the USC playbook and it wouldn't have helped us that much....LOL

USC acts like opposing teams and coaches can't figure this kind of stuff out on their own.
Pete Carroll has it right, they'll use something different in the future.
It was dumb for Booty to tell Musburger this in the first place. If Musberger were trully anti-USC and pro-another team on USC's schedule he could have quitely mentioned it to them.
At least this way everyone knows it has been compromised.
During a football game, many years ago, the fans of the home team, who had decided that Brent had been against their team for a while, decided to chant "F*ck You Brent!" during his telecast of a big game. You could hear it on TV and everything. Kinda funny.
I take exception to that. I am a University of SoCal student, and its statements like yours that make people in the "fag school in the GunHateState" think of you "SEC boys" as ignorant rednecks. If you don't want to promote this unfair stereotype, I'd suggest you not make these kinds of statements.
The only USC I know of is the one where the Old Ball Coach is at now.
Getting a little defensive there aren't we?
