PAKISTANI President Pervez Musharraf today called for a ban on the "defamation of Islam" in a speech to the UN General Assembly in which he took a veiled swipe at Pope Benedict XVI for his remarks linking the Muslim faith to violence.
"We also need to bridge, through dialogue and understanding, the growing divide between the Islamic and Western worlds," General Musharraf told the 192-member assembly.
"It is imperative to end racial and religious discrimination against Muslims and to prohibit the defamation of Islam."
In an indirect reference to Pope Benedict XVI, he said, "It is most disappointing to see personalities of high standing oblivious of Muslim sensitivities at these critical moments".

Let me paraphrase: We need a dialog so shutup and listen.
A ban on dhimitude should be priority #1.
I'm sick of their double standard - I'm sick of their threats, I'm sick of how they trash talk other religions, but are soooooooo "chip on the shoulder" prickly about their own. Gimme a break!!!! Grow up.
Now THAT ought to leave a mark! Good job!
But no, we would rather fight each other, than save our own lives and way of life. We show lack of unity, corruption and denial every chance we get. How can we fight an enemy who is united by a dominating force (islam), when we can't agree on anything? I fear for the future without men such as Sir Winston.
I would say that the end is approaching faster and faster. Removal of Musharraf will not hasten or slow it down.
Pak has already "taken a lurch to the bad."
Replaced by who? He's not perfect, but perfect isn't a choice. It's him or a Taliban-like regime for the time being.
"All your relgion are belong to us..."
Winston Churchill On Islam
A quote from an 1899 book by Winston Churchill, "The River War", in which he describes Muslims he apparently observed during Kitchener's campaign in the Sudan
"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men."
Here's a really good one from the 14th Century:
Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread the sword by the faith he preached,
---14th-century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologus(Rock On Infidel!).
I chant this everyday along with the Pledge of Allegiance. It's as refreshing as the day the Pope quoted it.
You defame yourselves, Mushie.....shut up and go crawl back into a cave
Death to the defamers of Spaghetti-Os!
Anybody happen to notice that the President of the General Assembly is a Muslim woman? The Enemy, President of the General Assembly of the UN.
And highlights for those who missed this excellent posting yesterday: http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-bloggers/1703690/posts
"Manuel certainly knew what he was talking about. He spent some time as a hostage in the court of one Muslim neighbor and he spent a lifetime fighting back against expansionist Islam. Almost nobody pauses to consider that Manuel might have something to teach us. Instead our conversation centers on whether the Pope is to blame for riling Muslims up and what he (and we) can do to mollify them."
So what are some of the lessons that Manuel might be able to teach us? Here are a few:
* Unity is essential against an enemy. If the Paleologoi hadn't been so busy overthrowing each other, they wouldn't have had to seek allies among the Ottomans, and may have been able to put up more of a defense against their common enemy.
* Appeasment doesn't work. As Andronicus and his son learned, there is always someone willing to pay a higher tribute, at which point your value drops to zero. As Winston Churchill was to say many years later, "Appeasment is like feeding a crocodile, hoping that he will eat you last."
* The West must be willing to fight. Manuel spent the last 20 years of his life trying to win help from his European neighbors against the onslaught of the Ottoman Empire. While Europe celebrated the prosperity and artistic expression of the Renaissance, Constantinople was beseiged and humiliated, and ultimately sacked. Although the West won a temporary respite, the Ottomans didn't leave them alone. They continued to attack and conquer Christian Europe until they were turned back from the gates of Vienna in 1683.
"So, will we learn from this tragic emperor or will we continue to pretend that Western Civilization is the real enemy and that we have more to fear from Pope Benedict XVI than from the Islamic radicals who threaten to kill him?"
Until such time these so-called "moderate" leaders realize that it is the beheaders and the suicide bombers who defame Islam and should be condemned, we won't make mush progress.
I just emailed the Pakistan embassy in Washington DC to point this out.

You cannot accuse Islam of promoting violence -
because if you do, they'll engage in violence....
Got it.
How about a ban on slicing heads off while filming them while singing religious ditties?
