Fawcett finds a comrade in Murtha
By R. SCOTT RAPPOLD THE GAZETTE
When John Murtha was elected to Congress in 1974, 75 percent of its members were military veterans.
Today, just 28 percent have served in the military, and Murtha says thats part of the reason the U.S. is embroiled in Iraq.
Murtha, a Democratic congressman from Pennsylvania and Vietnam veteran, has emerged as one of the foremost critics of the war.
He spoke Saturday in Colorado Springs at a rally for a local veteran running for Congress.
A couple of hundred people crowded into the basement of a downtown Colorado Springs bar to hear Murtha, who came to support Jay Fawcett, a retired Air Force
officer and Democratic candidate in the 5th Congressional District.
Fawcett faces state Sen. Doug Lamborn, the Republican nominee and by-the-odds favorite in a county with twice as many registered Republicans as Democrats.

Like.... When will you shut up and stop aiding the enemy? IS THAT THE RIGHT QUESTION?

Smart Fawcett | Dumb Fawcett |
The idea of a captain being an expert on the military is a laugh. That is why we have general officers. Even there, they come in four grades, each with different skill sets and levels of expertise. Same for Admirals. If every person who ever served in the armed forces was qualified to serve in congress and make military decisions we would probably have a more honest congress, but it would be just as dumb.
Duncan Hunter refutes your point. Quite frankly I'd prefer the guy who did a tour or two and went into the private sector. In other words, Duncan Hunter. We don't need Sestak or anybody like him.
> SEE YOU ALL IN JOHNSTOWN ON OCT 1ST.
You betcha. Redeploy Murtha!
> A couple of hundred people crowded into the basement of a downtown Colorado Springs bar to hear Murtha...
The man draws a crowd, doesn't he?
Was it happy hour?
I know Duncan Hunter and have a good opinion of him, but just how does he refute my point?
I live here and I listen to his radio ads and he goes through this tortured explanation about how Rep Hefley (retiring) doesen't trust him,(blah, blah blah) why should you,.... Never once does he mention he's a Democrat.
