Jihad enablers

Before you can discuss the manifest seriousness of the latest controversy involving the pope, you have to acknowledge its hilarity. Pope Benedict XVI, in an austere philosophical address, invoked Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus, the 14th century ruler who offered a harsh assessment of Islam. While the Koran says, "There is no compulsion in religion," Manuel couldn't help but notice that Muslims were setting up more franchises in his neighborhood than Starbucks - and they weren't doing so by selling the best darn Mocha Frappuccinos on his side of the Bosphorus Straits.

Today, A group of peaceful muslims who would never dare push their religion via the sword in gaza calling itself "The army of guidance" said it will attack all christian targets in the gaza strip until the pope apologizes.

My favorite quote:

The best book for illuminating what's going on in the Muslim "street" isn't some weighty treatise on Islam; it's a short little tract called "White Guilt" by Shelby Steele. The book isn't even about Islam. Steele focuses on white liberals and the black radicals who've been gaming them ever since the 1960s. Whites, he argues, have internalized their own demonization. Deep down they fear that maybe they are imperialistic, racist bastards, and they are desperate to prove otherwise. In America, black radicals figured this out a while ago and have been dunning liberal whites ever since.

Pope Expresses 'Deep Respect' for Islam

Pope Benedict XVI said Wednesday that he has "deep respect" for Islam and that he hopes his recent remarks that sparked anger from Muslims lead to dialogue among religions.

"I hope that in several occasions during the visit ... my deep respect for great religions, in particular for Muslims - who worship the one God and with whom we are engaged in defending and promoting together social justice, moral values, peace and freedom for all men - has emerged clearly," Benedict said.

There are some passages that are actually humorous in this article:

A Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokeswoman responded: "Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence."

But let us not dare suggest that even a whiff of intolerance can be detected in the Islamic world. If you say otherwise, I will cut off your head.

But, in other parts, the message is absolutely correct and prophetic:

In response, the West apologizes and apologizes. Radical Muslims, who are not stupid, take note and become emboldened by these displays of weakness and capitulation. And the next time, they demand two pounds of flesh. Meanwhile, the entire global conversation starts from the assumption that the West is doing something wrong by tolerating freedom of speech, among other things.

This week, French President Jacques Chirac explained that everyone in the West must avoid everything that sparks tensions. In other words, we must forever be held hostage by the tactical outrage of a global mob. There's nothing funny about that.

I'm not surprised about Chirac's comment, given that he's let the Muslim population there soar to over 25%. However, I am tired of politicians who have no guts and insist on political correctness with a bunch of murderous thugs who kill innocent people in the name of a "peaceful" religion. Where are all these so-called "moderate Muslims" who try to tell us that Islam is a peaceful religion? This is not about religion, it's about political power to force their religion down my throat and it really pi$$es me off that we can't find a politician who tells them publicly to back off and go to he\\. Where's my political representative who is suppose to protect me and our country? When are the RINO's going to learn this is a political hot-button and push it to win in November?

I guess I just don't get it...now where did I put that Avapro...?

Regarding the "no compulsion in religion" bit...

From the text of the Pope's speech:
"In the seventh conversation ("diálesis" -- controversy) edited by
professor Khoury, the emperor touches on the theme of the jihad
(holy war).

The emperor must have known that sura 2:256
reads: "There is no compulsion in religion." It is one of the suras of the early period, when Mohammed was still powerless and under[threat]. But naturally the emperor also knew the instructions, developed later and recorded in the Koran, concerning holy war."

Jonah Goldberg:

...The many learned disquisitions on the pope's speech notwithstanding, this isn't about theology either. After all, no serious person can take lectures on religious tolerance from the Muslim world very seriously. Spare me tales of Jewish accommodation in the 15th century. Today, throughout the Muslim world, Jew-hatred and Christian-bashing are commonplace, state-sanctioned and fashionable.

No, this is about us.

The West is caught in a similarly dysfunctional cycle of extortion and intimidation with Islam, but on a grander and far more violent scale. Whether it's the pope's comments or some Danish cartoons, self-appointed spokesmen for the Islamic street say, "You have offended a billion Muslims," which really means, "There are so many of us, you should watch out." And if you didn't get the message, just look around for the burning embassies and murdered infidels. They're not hard to find.

In response, the West apologizes and apologizes. Radical Muslims, who are not stupid, take note and become emboldened by these displays of weakness and capitulation. And the next time, they demand two pounds of flesh. Moral Clarity BUMP !

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately  on  my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.

That very well explains why our Leftists are completely useless in dealing with Islamic threats and challenges, and in fact undercut us at every turn, on a knee-jerk basis.

The "mark of the sociopath" is a person who plays guilt for pity -- seems the same goes for "religious" groups. Muslims need to stop, and we need to say, 'no more'...

Every time someone tells me the US is an imperialistic country, I get a strong urge to invade Canada & Mexico. I sometimes think I have the freedom to think & say that sort of thing because I'm a woman, one of the "downtrodden victims" of white male aggression we hear so much about.

There were Starbucks in the XIV'th century? Shoosh, I knew I'd seen them somewhere before!
