Kinky Friedman Closing Gap on Rick Perry
surveyusa.com ^

Posted on 09/19/2006 8:05:58 PM PDT by Lunatic Fringe

Perry and Strayhorn have regressed, Strayhorn by a considerable margin, while Bell (15 to 23) and Friedman (16 to 23) have moved up. Bell is finally consolidating Democratic support (from a pathetic 32 percent in April to 44% in July and 55% this time) and is getting more Independents (from 10% to 18%), while Friedman has picked up Republicans (from 10% to 23%) and more Indies (32% to 39%). Both Perry (65% to 56%) and Strayhorn (20% to 14%) have seen their GOP strength decline. Strayhorn has also seen her Democratic support wane, as she's dropped from 30% to 20%.

Exactly what experience did GWB have before he ran for Governor...several business failures? Were people just voting for him because of name recognization? He sure didn't exhibit any executive qualities.

There was an interesting article the other day talking about his attention deficit disorder. Not sure Texas can handle such a 'thang'. He needs to go back to writing books and being an icon. Texas might need a few good shepherds..but Kinky is not the Good Shepherd...just an old hippie with a Christ complex.

Pot head or air head; very little difference except the pot head does have moments of sobriety and sanity.

Pot head or air head or just another lawyer elected governor. It's all the same but different.

He also wants...gay Marriage legalized.

That's not true. He knows that would never fly in Texas.

His little joke about "They deserve to be just as miserable as everyone else" was just vintage Kinky. The man is no dummy. He knows the legislature will never pass such a bill in Texas and he'll never have to deal with that issue.

Wow, nice DU talking point. He had 2 business "failures" in the oil patch along with about 100% of the other oil patch failures during that time. He sure as hell didn't fail with the Texas Rangers. Now what success has "KINKY" had other than his block buster "Kinky and the Texas Jew-boys" band?

The hell it isn't true. Just because he "knows" it wouldn't fly doesn't make him any less in favor of it.

I will not vote for Van Taylor for Congress.

Oh boy. You've been dissin' Kinky and you will not vote for the GOP candidate Van Taylor? So you are voting for the Dem, Chet Edwards?

YOU JUST LOST ALL CREDIBILITY ON THIS WEBSITE IMO. There will be no more interaction between you and me. The DU must be missing you about now. Goodnight.

He sure didn't exhibit any executive qualities.

He owned several businesses so he had executive experience. Contrary to what liberals would have you believe, trying and failing at business can indeed be a good teacher.

He also had a world class education, a lifetime in a political family and was fighter pilot in the Texas Air National Guard.

Kinky Friedman writes songs and books. Jesse Ventura was not a wrestler but played one on TV.

I took my child out of public education after the TAS became a miserable failure. It was a joke. The teachers did nothing but teach to the test and when they were not doing that..they watched movies. I am saying we should TEST THE TEACHERS first and then give standardized tests to the students. Mexican immigration has had an enormous impact on our school system here in Texas as well and liberal policies in Austin and politics on both sides have made Texas impotent in the face of it.

trayhorn's biggest problem right now is convincing voters she didn't just die.

Her biggest donors are liberal lawyers, Walter Umphrey being the largest. He donated a lot to Bill & Hill.

So because I won't vote for Kinky or Taylor, you think I'm a Democrat.

Please, you're a total moron but then again, you're a Kinky supporter so it should be expected.

I won't vote for Edwards but Taylor will not get my vote either. I cannot in good conscience vote for someone whose character is a cross between John Kerry and Pat Buchanan. Taylor is a liar. He slandered his Republican opponent in the primary with outright lies. Now he can't even run honest ads about Chet Edwards.

While I might not agree with Edwards (although he is pro-military and pro-WOT) at least he is a man of character. Taylor on the other hand is not.

"You need to go outside once in a while."

I do that every single morning and read my electric meter and give thanks to Perry who has so blessed the power companies.

GWB was a puppet for the Rangers...nothing more than to bring in a few bucks and get Texas Legislature to change eminent domain laws so Arlington politicians could steal property for a stadium. That's the real scoop.

Hmmm, looks like most of the conservatives are voting for Perry, while the 'RINO's' and libs lean more towards Kinky. What a shock, the Perry-bashers here have another of their myths shot down:

Conservatives: 57% P(erry), 21% K(inky), 12% S(trayhorn...), 7% B(ell)

Moderates: 32% B, 24% K, 23% P, 19% S

Liberals: 46% B, 25% K, 14% S, 6% P

Reformated:

Perry supported by 57% of conservatives, 23% of moderates, 6% of libs

Kinky supported by 21% of conservatives, 24% of moderates, 25% of libs

Strayhorn... supported by 12% of conservatives, 19% of moderates, and 14% of libs

Bell supported by 7% of conservatives, 32% of moderates, 46% of libs

Kinky's schtick is wearing thin.

I'm tired of Perry's schtick too.

These are my top two choices out of the 4 candidates. Main objective will be to keep the other 2 out of office.

Kinky straddles the line of being conservative/libertarian on some issues. BUT he's already flipflopped on the death penalty, and hasn't said much beyond the one liners on some other issues.

Seeing him name people like Mojo Nixon as his press secretary and having seen the politicking of his election staff, they are all Austin libs with Kinky just being the front man.

If Kinky had a team more representative of his broad base politically, I might not be so skeered of a Kinky candidacy.

He needs to name someone on his staff that I agree with politically. And that isn't Willie Nelson, Mojo Nixon (who is as anti-Republican as they come), of the Tom DeLay bashers on his staff. And then the celebs like Jimmy Buffet and Larry Hagman who step forward are also Dems.

Makes me fear his appointments. If elected, I want Kinky in charge and appointing those who say the same things he says. So far I'm not seeing it. Who on his staff has publicly supported non-denominational prayer in schools? Who's come forward to agree that there is too much violent crime in Houston (from mismanagement of funds and police efforts in Houston)? Who's come forward to support increased border security and no more tolerance for illegal immigration (Kinky has talked about fining employers thousands for each illegal alien on staff)?

When he shows me a team who are unashamed to publicly state they will work hard to see Kinky's talking points become reality, I will be more sure that they aren't just plays for votes.

Nice chart! Looks like Kinky has picked up the support of the libs.
