Steve Irwin's Memorial Service to Air on Animal Planet
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, FROM 9-10 P.M. ET/PT. Get a reminder!
(Silver Spring , MD) Animal Planet is airing Steve Irwin's memorial service exclusively in the U.S., commercial-free, on Tuesday, September 19, from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT, with an encore broadcast airing 12-1 a.m. ET/PT. The memorial service, entitled Steve Irwin: He Changed Our World, will be a same-day broadcast (with a two-hour delay) of the event Wednesday morning in Australia.
The public memorial service for the beloved animal conservationist and television personality is being held in the "Crocoseum," a 5,500-seat stadium at Irwin's Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Australia. Members of the Irwin Family, as well as Irwin's long-time friend and producer, John Stainton, are expected to speak. Celebrities and dignitaries worldwide are expected to attend.
Also thank-you for the URL.
It was one big welcome.
Thank you for your commentary and the photos. Here Steve is not well known and nothing of substance has been broadcast, so the material on this thread has been valuable to me.
I will post more right below I didn't want to put them all on your ping.
What a fabulous little girl.....
I can only imagine--thanks for that thought!
Fabulous photo! I've just now seen a few video clips of Bindi's speech - just darling! Loved her little headset mike like the "rock stars' own" for the little "croc star"!
Russell was very sweet. I could only only imagine those 2 together! I bet they had great times. Can 2 alpha males get along? Ha ha
Caught the tribute last night. Baby Bob looks just like his dad as a baby.
Thanks for the ping. Had to catch it at my parent's as we don't have Animal Planet--only basic cable.
I was enjoying all the tributes and laughing at the bloopers and smiling at all the footage of Steve that was shown.
And then Bindi got up on stage and addressed the crowd, and I absolutely lost it. She was amazing.
What a shame--Animal Planet is included in my basic cable.
Please add me to your ping list.
Thanks!
will do.
I'm not sure where to post this, but I thought this would be a good place. A friend of mine is raising money for the Wildlife Warriors Fund by selling memorial decals. She's donating 100% of the profits to the Fund. Here's the site if anyone is interested:

Wasn't sure if it would be readable or not, but at least the little tribute was conveyed. :)
Australia unoffical National Anthem
Lyrics by
A.B. "Banjo" Paterson
Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong,
Under the shade of a Coolibah tree,
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boil,
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me,
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boil
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
....................
Down came a jumbuck to drink at that billabong
Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee,
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me,
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
.....................
Up rode the squatter mounted on his thorough-bred
Down came the troopers One Two Three
Whose that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
Waltzing Matilda Waltzing Matilda
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me
Whose that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker-bag
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
......................
Up jumped the swagman sprang in to the billabong
You'll never catch me alive said he,
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
Waltzing Matilda Waltzing Matilda
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.
BRISBANE, Australia (UPI) -- A woman and a teenager were charged in Australia with trying to take advantage of admirers of the television 'Crocodile Hunter,' Steve Irwin.
Police said the pair, a 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, were selling stickers to people lined up to get tickets for Irwin`s memorial service, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported. They allegedly claimed they were raising money for 'Wildlife Warriors,' an Irwin family environmental charity.
