Another example of why letting the Democrats ever again controll any portion of the Federal Goverment is insanely risky. The notion that once in they would easily be routed out of power again is nonsense.

Secret plan alleged on campaign financing Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/19/6 | Jim Sanders

A California Nurses Association publication indicates the group is pushing the Proposition 89 campaign-finance measure as a Trojan horse to get what it covets most: universal health care, opponents said Monday.
Allan Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce, said the strategy basically was spelled out in a document that appeared on the nurses association Web site.
"They have a two-step process here," he said. "One is to eliminate the ability of business to communicate with the voters. The second step is to have government-run health care on the next ballot ... and deny voters the ability to hear the other side."
Proposition 89 would allow public financing of campaigns for state offices, an overhaul touted as a way to discourage undue influence by well-heeled special interests.
The measure, crafted by the CNA, is on the Nov. 7 ballot.
Chuck Idelson, spokesman for both the CNA and the Yes on Proposition 89 campaign, said the nurses group has supported universal health care for many years but that the campaign-finance initiative is not specifically linked to that goal.
Universal health care is a bitterly controversial concept to replace California's system of private health insurance with a state-run system to provide medical care to every resident.

Pffft typos. Screw 'em. I look at content not syntax on here. If I want syntax I'll go read a book. :) I do plenty of typos because my fingers fly so fast sometimes they get ahead of my head. :) And anyone that critiques because of typos, well they lack a solid argument to respond to you with. :) Typos happen. :)
Well, I have picked my battle.
And voting to reelect RINOs won't get rid of them either. It only encourages them.
I am totally conservative and that's way I am still a Republican. The GOP is too liberal and too much of an advocate for big government for me to be proud to be a Republican.
I just realized that you were responding to #623.
So you are saying that you'll vote for the same things that the Dems want -- big government, lots of spending, baby killing, and gun grabbing -- as long as it's a Republican who wants those things?
Do I have that right? What the hell is the difference who you vote for if they both want the same thing? If party matters to you more than principle, I really am embarrassed to be in the same party as you.
Amen, brother!
Agreed. I just want to disabuse people of the belief that RINOs are our friend or even on our side. They are not.
They do not strengthen the party, they weaken it. They don't grow our efforts, they dilute our message and confuse the voters.
There will always be Democrats though, therefore, I see no good reason to ever have a RINO.
Well, the GOP is where most conservative voters call home, but the GOP elite are from from conservative and have great disdain for us and our values. They pay lip service to us to win our votes but I think that they'd rather we just go away.
The irony is that the more they drift left, the more conservatives will leave the party and the more the GOP will lose to the left. If they would move rightward and do it honestly and then govern as conservatives, they'd bring voters back into the system and the GOP and the more victories they'd have for generations to come.
It almost makes me think that the GOP wants to lose out to the left. It's only because the left is so looney that many voters are voting for the lesser GOP evil.
No, I wouldn't say rotten.
Susceptible to fearmongering, sure, but not rotten.
Silly for believing that the GOP really cares about national security when they oppose securing the borders, sure, but not rotten for wanting to believe that they care.
The sooner that you realize that the party cares only about the party -- and it's elites -- the better off you will be.
At least when the Dems make campaign promises, they really try to fulfill them. Since the money comes from the public treasury it costs them nothing and buys them votes. OTOH, the GOP whispers sweet nothings into the ears of conservatives with no intention on following through and actively working to do the opposite once back in office.
And we say the Democrat rank and file are dumb.
BTW thanks for being so patronizing first thing in the morning. You guys wonder why so many people are turned off and don't pay attention. Try the real world and not lecturing from on high and you may just get a clue. I am tired of the threats and temper tantrums. If Hillary is back in the White House I won't find you and say I told you so, because that's not classy. But by all means keep turning people away. Great plan. Fortunately you are not running the party. So I am secure.
People who actually are involved on the ground know that the real battle is for the middle and if you guys persist in your threats to leave, then fine, we just will have to work even harder for more of the middle.
Dingy Harry and Dirty Nancy? No thanks!
As you know I prefer facts over hyperbole and conjecture. But then again I don't have to really point that out to you, do I? We are normally and once again on the same page. :)
Me too... I will put my Conservatism up against anyone on this or most any FReep thread and I'm probably to the Right of a lot. But a Conservatism that loses is not my idea of what we need. The Communists at least understood that if they couldn't win outright, they'd keep taking half a loaf until there was nothing left. Can we do differently when there are so many different views that we have to keep happy? I think not.
I believe this was also a communist tactic, in the way in which I read say, the book 1984, truth became irrelevant the person rendered devoid of all thoughts not controlled by the state. I do not wish to live under any sort of totalitarianism. Either side of the spectrum. I will not dismiss a person simply because their views do not mirror mine.
But I also will not stand by and allow Republicans of any stripe to be slandered on this forum. Most especially when the poster is playing fast and lose with "facts".
It is also disturbing to note that the same people who claim to not trust the MSM, will not hesitate to use it if it serves their purpose to slander someone they consider based on some nebulous criteria not conservative enough. Sad really.
I give people the benefit of the doubt when deciding whether or not to support them. I look for unbiased reports on them. If I can't find those then I read it all and know that some where in the middle is the truth. Of all of my God given abilities, I was not blessed with the ability to judge a man's heart.
Aww. Did I hurt your feelings? Logic didn't seem to have any affect on you, so I figured that I could appeal to your emotions. Besides, that wasn't early morning for me. That time is the end of my day, not the beginning.
Lieberman is a liberal who supports the war, but he is a liberal. Miller is a liberal who supports the war. Maybe it was because he is a Marine, but he is still a liberal.
Maybe you relate to them better than I do is because so much of the GOP is liberal today. In many ways the Dems of the early 60's were more conservative than the pubbies of today.
If the GOP was 'reaching out to the middle' by holding to our values and showing that middle why it's better to vote conservative, I'd have no problems with their 'outreach'. But what they do is cede one value after another as unimportant if the people will just become Republican. You win nothing, you advance nothing if in the process of growing the party, you become more like that which you used to oppose.
If the GOP only wants to hold power without advancing conservative values, why should I care whether they win or lose? Because the other guy is worse? Sorry. I don't scare that easily.
And talk about threats? You wave the threat of Hillary in my face and think that I should . . . What? Get scared? The only way that Hillary wins is if the GOP puts up a liberal to oppose her (If she gets the Dem nod which I don't even think that she'll get.). We survived 8 years of her husband and in fact, conservatism grew while he was there. Do you think that the whole country goes to hell if she wins? Bush has done more to tear the GOP apart than BJ Clinton ever could. He united us against him.
How do you get through your day with such fears?
Look why don't you go work for Buchanan and leave me alone.
I see that you only have tolerance for Republicans that agree with you and not Republicans who don't drink the koolaid.
Now that I know where you really stand, I don't want anything to do with you or your ilk.
Consider this my last contact.
