Another example of why letting the Democrats ever again controll any portion of the Federal Goverment is insanely risky. The notion that once in they would easily be routed out of power again is nonsense.

Secret plan alleged on campaign financing Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/19/6 | Jim Sanders

Posted on 09/19/2006 9:54:35 AM CDT by SmithL

A California Nurses Association publication indicates the group is pushing the Proposition 89 campaign-finance measure as a Trojan horse to get what it covets most: universal health care, opponents said Monday.

Allan Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce, said the strategy basically was spelled out in a document that appeared on the nurses association Web site.

"They have a two-step process here," he said. "One is to eliminate the ability of business to communicate with the voters. The second step is to have government-run health care on the next ballot ... and deny voters the ability to hear the other side."

Proposition 89 would allow public financing of campaigns for state offices, an overhaul touted as a way to discourage undue influence by well-heeled special interests.

The measure, crafted by the CNA, is on the Nov. 7 ballot.

Chuck Idelson, spokesman for both the CNA and the Yes on Proposition 89 campaign, said the nurses group has supported universal health care for many years but that the campaign-finance initiative is not specifically linked to that goal.

Universal health care is a bitterly controversial concept to replace California's system of private health insurance with a state-run system to provide medical care to every resident.

I like this guy's idea and agree. Congress should indeed pass a law stating that terrorists are not covered by the Geneva Convention. Period, end of story.....

This is the same George Voinovich Who Once Called John Bolton Undiplomatic [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

WASHINGTON, Sept 19 (Reuters) - A U.S. senator compared Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Hitler and made fun of his name on Tuesday during a congressional hearing on the U.S. strategy to end Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program.

"Ahmadinejad — I call him Ahmad-in-a-head — I think he's a Hitler type of person," Ohio Republican Sen. George Voinovich said during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing.

"He has made it clear that he wants to destroy Israel. He has made it clear he doesn't believe in the Holocaust. He's a, he's a — we all know what he is," the senator added.

Of course, Roc. I won't vote for Rudy, nor McInsane, no matter what. But I am just yanking your chain because you are messing with EC.

It was horrible and Dinkins ruined it. We never went into the city at night. Taking the subway was a risk but we did it anyway. Rudy cleaned up NYC and made it trendy again.

Chafee Delays Vote on Bolton Nomination

By ANNE PLUMMER FLAHERTY , 09.07.2006, 01:27 PM

Sen. Lincoln Chafee has pulled the plug on a push by his fellow Republicans to confirm John Bolton as U.N. ambassador, saying he had more questions that needed to be answered.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee was expected to vote along party lines during a committee meeting Thursday to approve Bolton. But the panel postponed the vote after Chafee, R-R.I., expressed doubt.

"Sen. Chafee said he still had questions that were not answered," said the senator's spokesman, Stephen Hourahan.

Chafee was expected to send a letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice later in the day outlining his questions about Bolton, Hourahan said.

You know that for a fact? If true, what in the hell good is he as a so-called Republican? I really want to know what his value is supposed to be.

Could we quit stampeding at every rumor and claim? I would dearly love to know the source of all this crap. Sounds just like all they hysteric on election day in 2004 and the same crap leading up to Fritzmus.

Sure sounds like McCainite propaganda to prop up their failing position by falsly claim momentum is going their way.

Roc, another way to look at it is who will be responsible for the ruination of this nation...a Democrat Hillary or a Republican McCain.

If the outcome is the same, the Dems can have the blame.

Really. Taxes: He cut or eliminated 23 levies totaling $8 Billion dollars. He slashed municipal tax revenues share of personal income by 18.9 percent. He also cut the top local income tax by 21 percent. He cut the hotel tax by 1 percent.

He supports the gay life style as far as they are people and are entitled to live as they chose. He however is NOT in favor of gay marriage.

He is pro-choice, but so is Barbara and Laura Bush and to a certain extent so is just about everyone elected but Santorum and Coburn. I mean not being in favor of government intervention in private lives and issues is very Republican.

As for gun control, I have never known of a big city prosecutor who would not like to see guns controlled.
