Another example of why letting the Democrats ever again controll any portion of the Federal Goverment is insanely risky. The notion that once in they would easily be routed out of power again is nonsense.

Secret plan alleged on campaign financing Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/19/6 | Jim Sanders

Posted on 09/19/2006 9:54:35 AM CDT by SmithL

A California Nurses Association publication indicates the group is pushing the Proposition 89 campaign-finance measure as a Trojan horse to get what it covets most: universal health care, opponents said Monday.

Allan Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce, said the strategy basically was spelled out in a document that appeared on the nurses association Web site.

"They have a two-step process here," he said. "One is to eliminate the ability of business to communicate with the voters. The second step is to have government-run health care on the next ballot ... and deny voters the ability to hear the other side."

Proposition 89 would allow public financing of campaigns for state offices, an overhaul touted as a way to discourage undue influence by well-heeled special interests.

The measure, crafted by the CNA, is on the Nov. 7 ballot.

Chuck Idelson, spokesman for both the CNA and the Yes on Proposition 89 campaign, said the nurses group has supported universal health care for many years but that the campaign-finance initiative is not specifically linked to that goal.

Universal health care is a bitterly controversial concept to replace California's system of private health insurance with a state-run system to provide medical care to every resident.

He also lowered crime in NYC drastically, by going after 'quality of life' crimes. The dems and the press castigated him for the draconian measures he was taking against turnstile jumpers and squeegee guys. Funny thing though. When the cops started bringing these miscreants into the station houses and putting them through the system, the majority it turned out, were bail jumpers, parole violators or wanted for other, more serious crimes.

If the Dems win control of the House, hence the committees, they'll move to impeach President Bush and abandon the war. We can't let that happen

Though I will admit I have said .. Because of the friggin idiots backing McLoser that we have to do everything possible to save the House ..

David Frum is still pouting over his firing from the Bush Whitehouse. Any "analysis" of his should be considered with that fact in mind.

Jimmy Carter urges U.S. citizens abroad to vote

miamiherald

WASHINGTON - Former President Jimmy Carter, convinced the November election carries ''momentous historical importance'' to the U.S. image abroad, is urging Americans overseas to cast their ballots. Carter, the first honorary chair of Democrats Abroad, a group that encourages U.S. residents living overseas to continue to participate in elections, said in a telephone interview Monday that his travels have revealed ''consternation, disappointment, sometimes animosity and embarrassment'' toward the United States -- aimed particularly at the war in Iraq and the Guantánamo Bay detention center, which some European allies have called for closing.

I remember that before Rudy became mayor, NYC was considered increasingly unlivable.</p> City workers on strike, garbage left in the streets, crime rampant. Rudy fixed it.

Do you know the details? How far into the Bush term was he fired and why?

And rightfully so Allen slapped the bitch down. Notice too how the gutless wonders at NRO try to turn it on Allen? Can you imagine the crap storm that would descend if a Junk Journalist clown tried this with a Democrat candidate?

But as usual, the Conservative Media Establishment at NRO is too utterly PR stupid to actually FIGHT the Democrat noise machine.

Yes, Rudy Guiliani was a good mayor of NYC. I believe he would make a fine president as well. Let's not make the mistake of making the perfect the enemy of the good. (I don't believe Rudy G is a Rino: there would be no surprises with Mr. Guiliani's core philosophy and beliefs...he is a fiscal conservative and social liberal...when you vote for him you know what you are getting).

Remind me to tell you about my conversation with the 7 (some ponytailed), Vets for Peace across from the UN.

The media just crowded around them... disgusting. They didn't want an opinion from a vet on the other side.

It was fun seeing the beatdown and arrest of some World Can't Wait/SDS folks...
