Another example of why letting the Democrats ever again controll any portion of the Federal Goverment is insanely risky. The notion that once in they would easily be routed out of power again is nonsense.

Secret plan alleged on campaign financing Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/19/6 | Jim Sanders
Posted on 09/19/2006 9:54:35 AM CDT by SmithL
A California Nurses Association publication indicates the group is pushing the Proposition 89 campaign-finance measure as a Trojan horse to get what it covets most: universal health care, opponents said Monday.
Allan Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce, said the strategy basically was spelled out in a document that appeared on the nurses association Web site.
"They have a two-step process here," he said. "One is to eliminate the ability of business to communicate with the voters. The second step is to have government-run health care on the next ballot ... and deny voters the ability to hear the other side."
Proposition 89 would allow public financing of campaigns for state offices, an overhaul touted as a way to discourage undue influence by well-heeled special interests.
The measure, crafted by the CNA, is on the Nov. 7 ballot.
Chuck Idelson, spokesman for both the CNA and the Yes on Proposition 89 campaign, said the nurses group has supported universal health care for many years but that the campaign-finance initiative is not specifically linked to that goal.
Universal health care is a bitterly controversial concept to replace California's system of private health insurance with a state-run system to provide medical care to every resident.

Son went to World Cup this year. One of the games he got to see was Iran. There were zillions of Iranian flags waving.....WITH THE SHAH'S EMBLEM IN THE CENTER.
Interestingly enough a young Iranian desperately wanted to trade my son, his American flag for the Iranian flag. The trade was made and my son brought an Iranian flag home to America. My son could find no one who would give up their flag with the Shah emblem...tho he tried!

Well I've rarely watched/listened to U.N. speeches but I do recall a couple Clinton gave that got no applause, so I don't think it's unusual. I'm sure if clapping was the norm, Bush still would have gotten NONE today though. But mostly, I think it's the norm. I could be wrong though. On my list of things to do with time, watching/listening to U.N. addresses is somewhere down below watching paint dry and receiving a coffee enema.

I have heard from other Freepers that it is normal to wait for the end of the speech. Coffee enema? LOL!

Thank God the reign of Muslim Annan is over.Is he an observant Muslim? If so, what's he doing at a luncheon where booze is being served? Aren't a lot of those delegates Muslim? I thought Muslims weren't even supposed to look at booze?

Can someone PLEASE supply me with the radio link to Rush! Ugh, something funny is going on with our radio station! They cut off Rush and started playing some stupid song from the 60's called I can see for miles and something about you lied to me...WHAT THE HECK?!!
To: rightwingintelligentsia
I think he's boycotting it because Bush will be there. Ahmadinejad is a typical tough talking Muslim terrorist. Just a fascist Muslim coward who talks tough with thousands of miles seperating them from their foe, and then when they have a chance to be in the same room with the person, nope. "No thanks, uh, there's booze there and I won't be around booze, I'm a good moral Muslim." Killing wome and children, and supporting terror and conversion by force of all kinds, that's okay, but booze, no no, can't be around that, have to be a good Muslim. Persian slug dropping.
