CHICAGO Total advertising revenues for Journal Register Co. fell 4.7% in the four weeks ended Aug. 27 compared with the same period a year ago, the Yardley, Pa.-based publisher said Monday.
For period eight, ad revenues were $32.2 million, compared with $33.8 million for the four weeks ended Aug. 28, 2005.
On a year-to-date basis, Journal Register said ad revenues are lagging last year by 3.0%.
On a pro forma basis, assuming it owned the same properties during period eight this year and last, Journal Register ad revenues decreased 5.9% from last year.
Journal Register said this reflected continuing softness in its Michigan cluster of papers, which has been hit by economic fallout from the auto industry. Michigan ad revenues were 10.3%, the company said.
Online increased 25.0% from a year ago to $1.3 million.
Retail advertising revenues, on a pro forma basis, were down 4.6% in the period, with softness in financial/insurance and services category partially offset by strength in the political and building/hardware/garden stores categories.
Classified decreased 5.5%, or 1.8% excluding the Michigan cluster.
Help-wanted was battered, falling 11.4% in the period. Real estate classified, on a same-property basis, was down 2.4%.
Automotive continued to be a soft classified category, Journal Register said, with a decrease of 13.4%. Automotive was down 12.0% even excluding the Michigan cluster, it added.
National advertising revenues, which accounts for approximately 5% of total advertising revenue, plunged 24.8%, chiefly on softness of automotive and telecommunications categories.

I posted some comments yesterday about how the MSM has pushed abortion for about 4 decades to its readers/users/voters in the big Blue Cities and Blue States.

Last but not least they have poed many of the 64 million of us who voted for GW in 2004. Conservatives Out-Birthing Liberals

Conservatives are having more children than liberals, and that means their numbers are growing, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.
According to the 2004 General Social Survey, a random sample of 100 liberal adults found that they had 147 children; 100 conservatives had 208 children.
The difference between the two is 41 percent.
A state with the highest number of births is Utah — definitely a red state. The lowest birth rate is in Vermont — a very blue state.
Arthur Brooks, a professor at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Public Affairs, said the numbers are telling.
"Liberals have got a big 'baby problem,' " he said, "and it risks being the death of them."

I don't believe in Darwin re evolution.
However, Darwin's main observation of the survival of the fittest is at work here.
The liberals worship a death cult with abortion as their center piece of their religion. Then, they push homosexuality which is another center piece of their death cult. The life styles of many involve drugs with alcohol and so called free sex with anything. This has very negative impacts on fertility and the health of any baby that isn't aborted. Their negative outlook on life has to take a toll on their life span and fertility and impact on any children they have.
As we continue to eliminate dead voters, illegal voters and other liberal voting scams, they are in real trouble re winning any elections on a national basis and in many states. Their hold on the Blue Cities and States is shrinking everyday due to their life choices.
