I saw no announcement here of this very important day.
With three days to prepare, I hope most people will still have time to do their peace shopping and prepare celebrations.
And if it's good enough for the best minds in the nation, us ignorant louts should take notice.
Somehow I will not be surprised if the focus of most of the ceremonies will be a very unpeaceful attack on GEORGE W. BUSH.
Kofi Annan got Peace Week off to a good start by addressing the Non-Aligned Conference in Havana.
Kofi reports that that tireless warrior for peace, Fidel Castro, is doing well. That news should greatly increase the joy of all the peace-loving peoples of the world.
Thanks for the reminder! I need to dig out the blender for our traditional dish of whirled peas.
Maybe they can re-create the signing of the Kellogg-Briand pact, the 1928 law outlawing war.
We all know what a success that was.
Not that I care what they think, but many in Eurpoe and elsewhere trash the US for public consumption, but are secretly danmed glad we're around to take out the trash . . .
Couple that with all the violins in the middle east. They don't like violins in the middle east?. I don't understand.
"...Or, look at the Security Council. As you know, the Security Council must reform -- for the sake of the developing world, and for the sake of the United Nations itself. The perception of a narrow power-base hanging on five countries is difficult to sustain and it risks leading to an erosion of the United Nations authority and legitimacy -- even, some would argue, its neutrality and independence. I have, in the past, described this as a democracy deficit. It must be corrected."
We know that the "power base" is really hanging largely on the backs of American soldiers and taxpayers.
I'm preparing by digging a hole in the sand to place my head!
Muzzies plan to execute a nun in honor of Peace Day.
Mahmoud: "Thanks for the 'heads up,' I now have time to sharpen my knives and swords."
I know what you mean!
