Perhaps they didn't need to, since they shot her in the back.

If ever there were a more drastic comparison between the two religions, this is it. One is of love and forgiveness. One is of hatred and murder.

I'm not Catholic, and I don't know the rules, but I hope they do an initial investigation for consideration for sainthood. Martyrdom for her religion must count for something - although I believe miracles are required too. In our tradition (Jewish) when someone dies for being Jewish (like say Daniel Pearl) he dies a very holy man. No matter what his life was like he dies as if he lived the most righteous life a Jew can live.

I wish I could only be so strong as to forgive Ours is not to forgive such as these. Ours is to send them to their maker, let Him forgive those deserving of forgiveness.

Why doesn't the most protected man in the world dare say something like "I have changed my mind about the Religion of Peace. Certain followers of Islam seem to consider it a religion of the sword. Threatening and killing the holy people of other religions is not something peaceful, G-dfearing people do. The rest of the world awaits good Muslim leaders who stand up to this violent sect amongst them and loudly condemn it."
What, they would want to kill him MORE than they already do? Is that possible?

It strikes me that the Pope, formerly head of what was once The Inquisition, is not going take this lightly. Has anyone seen a specific response or statement on Sister Leonella's murder from the Vatican?
She was after all, one of his. It's also possible that her murder was a direct response to his lecture in Germany last week.

Wow.
At the most vulnerable moment of her life, she found the courage to forgive.
Nothing else points up the stark difference between the savage brutality of islam and the love and grace of Christianity that this one selfless act does.
May God welcome her with open arms, and may her killers find what they're looking for in the cold arms of their true god, satan himself.

I was at the commissioning of the USS Texas a couple of weekends ago. Senator John Cornyn was speaking and at one point regarding the war on terror said something like "we are fighting people that have hijacked a great religion". Most people in the crowd cringed and groaned.

The love of justice in our souls comes from the Mind of God: the true God. It could have come from no where else, for there is no example in nature for us to follow.
Shalom.

Fox is now reporting that some Muslim leader or group is calling for the execution of the Pope.
