NAIROBI, Kenya An elderly nun shot four times at the Somali hospital where she worked forgave her killers as she lay dying, colleagues said Monday in the wake of a murder that has focused attention on Islamic radicalism in the Horn of Africa country.
Sister Leonella, 65, muttered the words 'I forgive, I forgive' in Italian after being shot three times in the back by gunmen in an apparent execution-style killing, father Maloba Wesonga told The Associated Press at the nun's memorial mass in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Monday.
Her murder — the latest slaying of a foreigner in Somalia — was not a random attack and could have been sparked by remarks by Pope Benedict XVI about Muslims that have sparked angry reaction from Muslims around the world, added Willy Huber, regional head of the Austrian-funded hospital where Sister Leonella worked.
The killing has once again turned the spotlight on the lawless Horn of Africa nation where a powerful, radical Islamic group, accused of having ties to al-Qaida, have all but wrested control of the country from the weak and factional Somali government.
With it has come a hardline Taliban-style rule complete with public floggings and executions. Its leaders have pledged to wage holy war against an African peacekeeping force which is supposed to arrive early next month to help stabilize the country.

I agree with you, but there are many different levels of depravity in the act of murder. Killing an innocent nun who has pledged herself to God's Work is about as low as it gets, just above a child in my book. One drug dealer killing another for a better spot on a street corner doesn't rate very high on my "I worry about his soul" category.

A cultural weakness in the men of Islam: Cowardice. They will send their brainwashed children out with bomb belts to do their killing. They will kill innocent nuns who pray for their forgiveness. They will set missile launchers in apartment complexes. They will use our civility as a tactic to fight us. The Geneva Conventions do not apply to these vermin.
Cowards! They should be embarassed that it took four of them to shoot a harmless, older nun in the back! Gee, what proud and great warriors they are (with sarcasm).
And with her dying breath, she forgave them. Heaven has a new saint. Too bad for the Somalis, they've lost a tireless servant, who cared for their ill.
I could be wrong (easily) but I believe that martyrs can be exempt from that "2 miracle" thing.
That's why what Sr. Leonella did (I'm not speaking of merely dying, but of forgiving those who murdered her) is more powerful than bullets and bombs. Some Islamic person somewhere will hear of this and think, "This is goodness beyond anything that human nature, unassisted, can provide. Where did she get such a power?"
The conversion of the hearts of Muslims. That's what we should be praying and fasting for. I'm sure that's what Sister Leonella is praying for now.

A saint, yes, but the Islamos have never asked others to forgive them since they do not think any of their actions need forgiveness. Yes, God is the final judge of us all but would it not be sweet if the military could actually catch these 'brave' murderers and blast them so they will not have to go to whatever prison and whatever trial and whatever sad stories the NY Times would write absolving them from their brutality???!!!
