The Powers that Be wisely decided to dump William Weld, the former liberal governor of Massachusetts, in favor of John Faso, conservative Republican. Now they have turned their backs on him giving a pass to Eliot Spitzer, who wants to run for president one day.
The NY Sun today endorsed Faso. Finally, some good news. I am curious to see what the NY Post does since they are such sellouts.
"The NY Sun today endorsed Faso."
That is good news.
Faso did well in today's first debate with Spitzer. Too bad that not enough people were able to hear the debate.
Every once in awhile I bug the NYS GOP about their lack of support for conservative candidates.
Here is contact info for the NYS Republican Party, if anyone wants to send them an e-mail, personal note to Stephen Minarek or call.

I'm going to order a few bumper stickers for myself and my friends to help get Faso's name out:

Spitzer has promised over $53 BILLION in new programs, so how can he keep his promises without raising taxes?

Eliot let Hevesi off hook, Faso sez
BY JOE MAHONEY
DAILY NEWS ALBANY BUREAU CHIEF
Republican gubernatorial candidate John Faso accused his opponent Eliot Spitzer of "selective prosecution" by refusing to delve into State Controller Alan Hevesi's use of a state chauffeur for his wife.
"He only goes after people when it is politically convenient for him to go after them," Faso told the Daily News. "It's become a pattern of selective prosecution."

Thus, my comparison of Spitzer to a mob thug.
I have friends who are pro life Democrats - I tell them they cannot vote for Spitzer, who tried to shut down crisis pregnancy centers and even theatened a priest for praying in front of an abortion mill.
FYI
Here's Eliot's actual press release, where he threatens employers for requiring their employees to show up for work, rather than attending the ILLEGAL immigration rally:
http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2006/apr/apr28b_06.html
An artcle on this subject:
Yet, amazingly, New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer is threatening New York businesses that require their employees to show up for their scheduled shifts today, arguing that they generally cannot discipline those who boycott their jobs because attending rallies for illegal aliens is "protected" activity under federal labor law.
Spitzer's claim is very misleading. First of all, in the Hoffman Plastics case, the Supreme Court held that the National Labor Relations Act does not allow illegal aliens to sue employers for backpay, since they have no legal entitlement to work in the United States.
Second, and more importantly, even if federal labor law defines attending a rally for illegal immigrants as a protected activity for "mutual aid and protection," that only means that employees have license to attend such rallies on their own time. They cannot unilaterally take off work en masse and shut their employer down, since employers have a right to keep their businesses functioning.

The New York GOP is nearly as corrupt and "moderate" as the New Jersey and California GOPs.
It's just another wasteland.
The good news, such as it is, is that if the governor's office in NY really is a figurehead position then Spitzer won't make things any worse than they already are.
There's a reason for it.
Democrats have infiltrated the party as liberal Republicans and obtain support by the leadership, eventually *becoming* the leadership.
At that point, you're screwed.
So when us "purists" start sounding claxons...pay attention!
Yes, on the whole the NY GOP stinks to high heaven - and abandons conservative Republicans. Faso nearly defeated a big lib, Alan Hevesi, three years ago and now Hevesi is involved in another scandal! I hope the people who voted three years ago remember that. As for Illinois, they originally had a good candidate, I think his name was Ryan, and then they shafted him.
I will never forget the Liza Minelli commercial for John Ravitz "and he's thoroughly pro choice"! Gag me! Of course, Ravitz lost to crazy Liz Krueger. What would Judy Garland do????
Then Spitzer is a bigger jerk than I thought he is. He is supposed to uphold the law, not break it.
But don't forget the trouble that superliberal Mario Cuomo gave us for twelve years. For a while, Pataki was able to undo that trouble.
Thanks to Al D'Amato and George Pataki the NY GOP is in shambles.Unfortunately, it will take the new administration of Spitzer & Cuomo screwing things up to rebuild the GOP.
The Democrat elite has it made, and will have it made in NY forever. Upstate is (soon to be "was") the cash cow they can milk to keep their illegal and otherwise worthless constituents in clover. But, Northern New York, and especially Western New York, are getting poorer by the day ... kinda like Maine under the Democrats, but the fishing isn't as good.. .
"Then Spitzer is a bigger jerk than I thought he is. He is supposed to uphold the law, not break it."
Exactly.
We all need to write letters to editors to show as many people as possible just how bad he is. I sent some info to a popular talk show host in my area re: Spitzer.
More fyi re: Spitzer:
The abortion empire strikes back
By Michelle Malkin
Friday, January 11, 2002
New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, a loyal water boy for pro-abortion groups, has launched a crackdown on crisis pregnancy centers.
This is a direct assault on the front lines of compassionate conservatism. An estimated 3,000 crisis pregnancy centers offer abortion alternatives nationwide. Most are non-profit and affiliated with Catholic charities. Radical feminists, who push abortion as the only acceptable choice, call these life-affirming pregnancy centers "deceptive." The National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) sells a guide to sabotaging the centers' missionary work.
Spitzer, a Democrat, promised NARAL three years ago that his tax-subsidized "reproductive rights unit," staffed by abortion activists, would carry on the campaign. He delivered.
According to Chris Slattery, the founder of Expectant Mother Care, which provides the most comprehensive crisis pregnancy services in New York City, Spitzer issued subpoenas last Friday to pregnancy resource centers in Staten Island and Manhattan demanding documents related to their services. Spitzer's office refused to provide me with any information on his legal maneuvering, but more subpoenas are expected. Spitzer's move "is a triple attack on the First Amendment -- on our freedom of assembly, religion and speech," Slattery told me.
