The Powers that Be wisely decided to dump William Weld, the former liberal governor of Massachusetts, in favor of John Faso, conservative Republican. Now they have turned their backs on him giving a pass to Eliot Spitzer, who wants to run for president one day.
I'm not sure they are turning their backs on Faso. In my neck of the woods they are planning town hall meetings and a get out the vote effort, all of which we've heard about from the state party.
Sure, I'd like to see a bigger push, but I'm not sure how well funded the state party even is these days given how badly Pataki has mismanaged it.
Well, I've been busy in school, and not paying attention, but I think all of our candidates are poor except for Callaghan.
Senate:
Pirro = Tax Cheat
Mac Farland = Johnny come lately spoiler
Spencer = Close to Bigamist, spoke at the club, and was weak
Cox = I know nothing about him. Having said that, being related to Nixon is a killer in NY
Governor:
Manning = spoke at the club, and was weak
Daniels = Worked for Dinkins
Weld = has gotten bored with every political job he ever had
Faso = spoke at the club, too slick
I know we have a weak bench in this state, but come on!
Pataki is going to have a lot to answer for. Where is he, anyway? It is also odd how the NY Post which I believe endorsed Faso against Hevesi is ignoring him when they aren't belittling him (which Fred Dicker does). Suozzi should have done better against Spitzer. I think people just feel it is hopeless.
Look what happened in the "race" against Schumer!!!! What a bunch of sellouts.
Back to school. : )
This is true.
Hitlery and her machinations factor into the Spitzer scenario. The GOP realizes Spitzer has it wrapped up and I'll bet hitlery even threw a little something the GOP's way to take away the sting.
Spitzer is an abusive prosecutor, and Hillary is a dangerous power-monger... and Schumer, dangerous demagogue ...
and nobody to stop the steamroller? I feel your pain!
"I think these RINOs just think that Spitzer is unbeatable and are jumping on his band wagon. "
So what? You have to fight against the other side and stand up for the GOP or you dont belong in the part organization. Period!
Cowards!
What do I know? In Texas we Republicans run all 29 state offices. Cool.
and one little Pinko Dem DA, with blatantly fraudulent charges brings down the Speaker of the House of the US Congress.
"There is NO such thing as the GOP in NY."
"This is true."
by the looks of it there is no such thing as the GOP, as we here at FR like to think of it, in the US of A. the current state of the Congress, POTUS and the Supreme's is weak and stuck on stupid. we have let PC rule this country and it will be our downfall.....we are looking to be just like Europe, where the mullahs have control.
Al D'Amato and George Pataki have destroyed the GOP in NY. After a term of Spitzer and Cuomo NY'ers may start coming back, ie, liberal judicial appointments, higher taxes et al.
I have just read that D'Amato told Vacco (the former attorney general who was defeated by Spitzer) not to take the Right to Life line. That would have provided him with a margen of victory. What a disaster!
Even a liberal commented to me, "I don't believe the 80% approval rating for Schumer". He tries to project himself as "invincible" and people believe it.
And then there is Austen, Texas, which is Lib Land. Isn't Bob Beckel from Texas? Liz Smith? Ann Richards? UGH!
Stop the steamroller?
They're jumping on board!
So...please pardon me if I over-react when Republicans outside the state sell-out on conservative issues.
I have read that the WSJ gave a positive review to a Faso tax proposa. Already the RINO on another website are jumping all over him. It is truly disgusting.
I will bet that Al D'Amato votes for Spitzer. I don't think that Peter King will sell out but Al would.
What do we do?
We got him past the bastards in the primary.
They give me the feeling that they'd prefere Mrs. Bill Clinton to Spencer by the way they treat Faso.
Spitzer is just another mob boss.
What do we do? Well, I will be voting and I am telling my friends and neighbors to vote for Faso and when they say it is hopeless, I tell them about the self-fulfilling prophecy. I will also boycott county meetings until I see some solid support for Faso and do my own thing until they wise up. Why pour money down a rathole?
