Fewer than 4,000 Texans out of some 23 million have contributed to Perry. Some opponent could win by default, or Perry could win by default with the divided opposition. Luckily for Perry, there is no general election runoff, or I believe he would lose the runoff to any of the three others.

I am going to hold my nose and donate money to Perry beacuse the alternatives (Staryhorn-Rylander-Insert name here, (Ding)Bell, and Kinky (lefty with a book to schill) are too awful to contemplate. Staryhorn courts Big Labour with the zeal of a liberal and Bell is a complete left-wing tool, and Kinky relegates all policy questions to his campaign manager whils signing books (all three of these idiots think that more taxes are also a panacea to perceived problems).

4 out of 5 people I know are not supporting Perry. I know I am not.

Kinky Friedman is a comedian and a joke; a veritable twit among twits. If Texans slip up and actually elect this boob as their governor, they will have the governor they deserve.

WAKE UP, TEXAS - SMELL THE SALSA!!!!!!

Naah, even if it went to a runoff, I believe Perry would win. No way Bell could win the runoff, that I can say for 100%.

Kinky Friedman is the best friend the Perry campaign ever had. If Kinky wasn't in this race Perry could lose. Big Time.

I think your prediction about Perry losing in a run off is about like your prediction that the 'dream team' was going to wipe him out in 02.... It won't happen, with or without a run off. Perry will win.

The Trail Lawyer money is being split between the two camps right now in an effort to drain votes from Perry. But I still think that Bell will come in 2nd, Strayhorn 3rd and the Joker will be hard pressed to be out the Libertarian for 4th.

The Joker is a novelty in this election. Texans aren't going to support him with their vote or cash in sufficient numbers to make much of a splash. The things the Joker represents or advocates is there in two of the better known candidates, Bell/Strayhorn.

The Joker advocates:

--Abortion
--Amnesty for illegals
--Death penalty review
--Disrepects Texas Hunters: "I do not suffer hunters gladly,"
--Gay Marriage
--Same day voter registration
--Slots for Tots

As an Easterner with little knowledge of Texas state politics, can someone please explain to me what Rick Perry did that earned him such enmity among Conservatives?

I will NEVER forget Rick Perry.I had to go to Austin on September 9th,2001 to play a charity-fundraiser at which he was the guest of honor. My friend(BK Kirkpatrick)persuaded me to stay an extra day(San Antonio).I was at her house when she awakened me and said that her daughter(Jeanne)had called fromm Savannah admonishing her to turn on her TV!I finally got home on September,16th!!It's like the JFK assassination,RFK,Martin Luther King Jr......You will NEVER forget where you were!!!!!!!!!!!!!
