Timmy Russert is essentially running a campaign commercial for Webb.

He thinks he can use the fear of Hillary to scare GOP voters into nominating him.

It 's time for other Presidential contenders to come out for strongly for the CORRECT position & start criticising those who behave against out national interest.

Good, Senator Allen has got his ducks in a row on the facts leading up to the war. Ooops, now he veers off into sentimentality.

I certainly hope Boehner doesn't apologize. If he feels forced to say something he should say "I'll apologize the MINUTE the Democrats apologize for calling the president Hitler, a liar, etc."

Schieffer assumes anyone from South Carolina must be one.

Right! Graham is a big disappointment to me.
And McCain. Agreeing with Ted Kennedy again. Not healthy to do that and look for a Republican nomination for Prez.
Mitt Romney used McCain's opposition to bloody him up a bit on Friday.

Go Pats! Beat the Jets!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rush is right to question why the rats continually demagogue the war, he's been there. He knows what goes on and with his sources. He is the man of the hour always. Last Tuesday there was another man of the hour here is his story.

http://powerlineblog.com/

Major Eric Egland and his wife Ania appeared on CNN last Tuesday(see video at links on this site, his story is about half way down when you scroll) and gave a great account of why he supports the war and his take on what goes on in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The Major(who is a blogger) recently wrote the book "The Blog of War."
The Major found morale in Iraq, "sky high" as opposed to what the msmers report. He is a counter terrorist analyst and told of how the troops are actively helping Iraqis in creating schools, their social structure, building hospitals, along with many other avenues of rebuilding the war torn country.
He told of how the terrorists are PR masters but said little is said about how our night time efforts of taking out terror types night after night ever get reported. He's a true patriot and is ready to serve his country at a moments notice.
The major told a CNN interviewer named Betty last Tuesday of his three month internet romance with his wife Ania and how he proposed only three days after finally meeting her.
Their first son was born 10 days after Egland had returned from Iraq and his wife is now pregnant and expecting their second in Feb.
It was a heart warming "good news story" of a couple that are making a difference in a difficult war and Egland is proud that we "took the war to them" in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Check out the rest of powerline there is a bunch of other great stuff as well.

Have you ever heard of a religious group that objects to their characterization by people as murderers who turn around and murder?

Wow! I didn't think I'd ever get in on the thread this early (it's 6:00AM here on the left coast).

Just starting the timmay show that begins with a narrative introduction of the two debaters George Allen and Jim Webb.

They pointed out Allen's political history and then lavished Webb's military experience. What a funny, mixed message! Do they not realize that they say "We don't care about substance as long as we look attractive?!"

It'll be interesting a year from now to see how the candidates shape up.

President looked really angry when Powel was mentioned in the presser.

He had every right to be.  Powell was stabbing him in the back.  We all should be angry.  Treason should cause that reaction.

Now, that comment will draw criticism as being too harsh.  But treason is a crime defined in Article III, Section 3 of the US Constitution:

Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

Colin Powell, John McCain, Lindsey Graham and even John Warner are clearly giving "aid and comfort" to the enemies of the United States.  It's not a hard case to make.   Folks like Kos and Michael Moore are clearly "adhering to their enemies" and, arguably, "levying war against" the US.  The list could go on.  I'm not questioning their patriotism.  I'm flat out calling them traitors.

Timmy tries to make it appear that Allen had only one reason for voting for the war, loyalty to George Bush. He tries to make him look one-dimensional and stupid. Allen comes back nicely, pointing out that his vote was based on his loyalty to this country.

Now Webb is lying about the intelligence leading to the war being cooked.

Allen needs to be real careful here, the deck is stacked and not in his favor. I don't think I would have allowed this debate. Timmah is not neutral.

I'm always a bit leery about coming down too hard on Powell. My worst nightmare is seeing him become a rat, instead of just acting like one.

Kind of odd isn't it. A Massachusetts governor looking to get on the right of two senators from Arizona and South Carolina. Mitt obviously knows the path to the GOP nomination isn't by imitating these two.

Hopefully it won't take the Pats a whole half to wake up today.

McCain, Graham, Specter, Levin. I don't see any opposing opinions. Nothing like stacking the deck.

The left and the DBM have been positioning Specter as an ally of the White House this week:

I know, it's silly, but that's what they've been trying to set up.
