Republican gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos on Friday won the endorsement of the Michigan Farm Bureau after pledging to cut property taxes on farmland and support an immigration policy that protects the needs of agriculture.
"Dick DeVos' business expertise and his support of small businesses was a common theme among the recommendations received from county Farm Bureaus" that weighed in on the endorsement, said Andrew Hagenow, chairman of the Farm Bureau's political action committee, AgriPac.
"People sometimes forget that agriculture, at its core, is not simply a way of life, it's a business much the same as other industries in Michigan," he added in a statement.

regarding amonium nitrate, there have been no uses of this as a bomb since tim mcveigh
frankly, gasoline can cause a decent sized explosion too.
Ammonium nitrate is used as fertilizer, so of course the Farm Bureau opposed it.
I realize what is is used for but it also is used to make bombs and Farm Bureau lobbied against stricter controls on it.Of course it only killed a few hundred people in the Murrah building, no big thing.>
It looks like this Amway guy is losing. I don't know why the Republicans could not pick a better candidate. Why would they pick a cult member. It is amazing.
How would it be controlled? The quantity used by McVeigh wouldn't be remarkable for use by farmer.
I think they had intentions of farmers having to prove the need for it and showing an address. I did not read the legislation just saw it on the news. I think you can still buy a freight car of it if you wished.
Instead, they worked on trigger locks. Oh, and making sure Moslem terrorists weren't profiled when entering our country.
