Fridays "Good Morning America" broadcast yet another bad-news-for-Republicans story concerning the partys chances in the upcoming mid-term elections. In a report from Robin Roberts, three southern women, all either former Republicans or Republicans considering voting for Democratic candidates, were given air time to express their disenchantment with the GOP:
Robin Rasmussen: "I voted Republican in every election since I was 18."Robin Roberts: "But not this year. Robin Rasmussen is thinking of voting for a Democrat and shes not alone."
Janna Herbison: "And I used to consider myself to be a Republican."
Tracy Quick Bradford: "...I think that the, the candidates that, that represent the Democratic party this year are most in line with my views."
Roberts told co-anchor Diane Roberts and new GMA newsreader Chris Cuomo (yes, son of the Democratic former governor of New York and brother of New York attorney general candidate, Andrew) that a "lively, lively" discussion took place among the women. Viewers of the segment saw none of that. In the portions of the discussion that did air, Roberts never asked the women why they felt Democrats might make better leaders. Instead, the piece highlighted each of the women expressing their dissatisfaction with the party, or rehashing Democratic talking points:
Roberts: "What are the issues, Tracy, that youre most concerned about?"Bradford: "I think health care, education and the economy. And I think that the, the candidates that, that represent the Democratic party this year are most in line with my views."
Rasmussen: "If the Democrats are in power, theyre gonna--you know theyre going to do the best they--you hope that theyre going to do the best that they can."
Janna Herbison: "And I heard a comment, I think, from a congressman the other day that said if the Democrats don't agree with the war, they're more concerned with the terrorists safety than with Americans safety. And I couldntthat just, that blew my mind...Dont say theyre aligning themselves with the terrorists because they disagree with you. Thats un-American."
Before concluding the segment, Sawyer served up some more "worrying" news for Republican incumbents:
Diane Sawyer: "But another worrying thing for the Republicans has to be how much they just seem to want change of some kind."
Chris Cuomo: "Thats right. I mean, you have to distinguish between not liking the Republicans and feeling that the Democrats are a better bet."

Farce or not, a story like this can do real damage. Women pay less attention to politics than men, and are vulnerable to a "follow the leader" psychology -- the "leaders" in this case being "Republican women" who desert their party, echo back media themes to the media, and therefore get on TV.
Every FReeper should "adopt a Soccer Mom" he/she knows and set him/her straight. Or, for that matter, a "working woman."
I knew the people who put out the questions were liberals but they sure got that bit of false information out to the school kids real fast.
This morning on CSPAN a seminar faux Naval Aviator called in during the Treatment of Detainees debate. He claimed to have gone through "SAR" POW training down in Florida sometime in 1982. He stated that it was a piece of cake and that we shouldn't even try the techniques on the terrorists.
Any Navy flyer knows that SERE is conducted in Maine and California..and they can break you.
Har!! Oh, nooooo - - that doesn't sound like a well-rehearsed, canned statement. No way.... (/sarc)
So GMA goes and digs up the same kind of mice who troll here and who call talk radio with the opening line, "I've been a Republican all my life, but.....", and then puts these scumbags in front of the cameras as if they're for real ??!
'Good Morning America' is shameless. What a disgrace.
Janna Herbison = former Democratic Press Secretary for the TN Legislature
What a fraud!! Allowing herself to be presented on national TV as a current or former Republican suddenly leaning to the 'Rats
Oh, she'll say "but when I was 18 I considered myself to be a Republican".... even if that was 20, 30 years ago
Sounds like GMA has committed the usual sort of MSM fraud.
What is sad though, is that who besides us will ever know.

Contacting Good Morning America
As for newsbusters, finally found a way to contact them:
Heck, why not copy it to Limbaugh, Hannity, and more!
I'm a daughter of the south... no way they're voting dem.
I'm betting money that the Democratic Party handed these "Republicans" to someone at ABC. This was an inside job with a purpose. This is almost as bad as Rathergate.
I Sent Rush an email on this about 10 mins ago.
Too bad we gotta wait til Monday. Or maybe that will give El Rushbo time to dig up even more info!
Right you are.. These can't be real Southern women.
The Dems must really be getting nervous about this election. They've got the MSM news doctoring machine out in heavy 'fake but accurate' mode. Perhaps they are recalling visions of a deeply saddened Tiny Tom Daschle and know they may be looking at another disastrous election. Dan Rather and Mary Mapes must be so proud of GMA.
Great work lowbridge!
Well shut mah mouth! I'm a son of the south!
South of Brooklyn, that is. ;-)
Looks like Sundquist is a Republican.
This is hugh (and series!)
Seriously, great work!
I live in Alpharetta Georgia, I'm about as southern as a republican woman can get.
I actually made the time to vote in a special Republican run-off election for State Agriculture Commissioner. In other words, I seriously vote for Republicans and only Republicans.
