There are new developments in the case of a local Iraq war veteran who's been missing from our area since late last month.
It's a story 9News was first to tell you about.
Using his ATM transactions to track him, Hamilton police tells 9News that Sergeant Garry Jones has been travelling the country from Pennsylvania to Montana.
Surveillance images from those ATMs have confirmed that information.
His family says Jones has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since returning from Iraq last fall.
Please pass this on!
Please ping your lists.
He has the look of someone who just needs to get away from everything for a while to recover his senses.
I know. His eyes make me sad.
Is he AWOL, Star?
ping
No -- not AWOL as far as I know. He's been home from Iraq somewhere around a year.
I saw his parents on TV last night. They found blood on a rock and then his friend changed the story and said he wanted to take off.I am glad he is alive. It can be fixed-he is still alive.

Eight months after returning from Iraq, a Hamilton, Ohio, Army sergeant has gone missing.
Garry Jones, 24, was last seen leaving his apartment last Saturday morning, driving a late 1980's maroon Chevrolet Cavalier.
Mother: Something Was Wrong
Janice Jones, the sergeant's mother, said when she went inside his apartment, she instantly knew there was a problem.
"All his clothes are there. His duffel bag, his luggage, nothing was missing," Janice Jones told 9News.
Janice Jones said she doesn't know anyone who would want to hurt her son and she can't rule out that he might try and hurt himself. She said her son had been demonstrating classic signs of post traumatic stress disorder since returning from his tour of duty.
About Jones
Garry Jones returned from Iraq in November of 2005 after a 13 month tour that put him on the front lines. Jones told his family very little about his experiences.
After his return, Jones settled in Hamilton, finding a job and an apartment.

I just saw the story over on the PGR site. I couldn't believe it wasn't already posted at FR -- I hope he is alive and it all turns out ok.
It sounds like his Bud was covering up for him and he just wanted to take off and let's hope that is true and he is still alive.
Poor man.
I hope he is found soon so he can be helped and cared for.
Thanks for the heads up Star.
Probably doesn't help that he comes from Ohio.......Murtha Country?
I thought his friend KILLED him.
Thank you!! I tried a couple ways and didn't come back with anything.
Close -- Murtha's in Pennsylvania. I hope you're right. He may just want to get lost for a while.
