WASHINGTON - A rebellious Senate committee defied President Bush on Thursday and approved terror-detainee legislation he has vowed to block, deepening Republican conflict over a key issue in the middle of congressional campaigns.
Sen. John Warner (news, bio, voting record), R-Va., chairman of the Armed Services Committee, pushed the measure through his panel by a 15-9 vote, with Warner and two other GOP lawmakers joining Democrats. The tally set the stage for a showdown on the Senate floor as early as next week.
Right. And when they do it in public do they forget that the ENTIRE world gets to watch? Sometimes I swear they think that no one is watching. That may be true when it comes to the average Joe in America, but I am certain that the ENEMY IS WATCHING. And laughing out loud. I am so angry.
Maybe, maybe not.
An independent McCain run might draw more "moderate" Demcorats from Hillery.
I can't imagine ANY real Republican or intelligent independent voting for this clown.
I do.
They talk, they talk to their Lawyers, they talk to other prisoners. For exhibit "A" of this, {IIRC} the lawyers of those jailed for the first WTC bombing were forwarding classified intel they received as evidence to terrorists in Egypt.
