WASHINGTON - A rebellious Senate committee defied President Bush on Thursday and approved terror-detainee legislation he has vowed to block, deepening Republican conflict over a key issue in the middle of congressional campaigns.
Sen. John Warner (news, bio, voting record), R-Va., chairman of the Armed Services Committee, pushed the measure through his panel by a 15-9 vote, with Warner and two other GOP lawmakers joining Democrats. The tally set the stage for a showdown on the Senate floor as early as next week.

They usually work these things out...
I suspect they will do that here, and everyone will move on....
But it sucks when they do it in public. The president had to take them on because of the stupidity of the Supreme Court.
Now the separation of power issue becomes a public fight once again. With a election coming.

I can't even bring up the ussenate.gov website.
I wanted to post the phone numbers and email addresses for McCain, Graham, Warner, Collins, et al, but I can't even get on the Senate website. I'll bet they are getting the message.
To: SE Mom
I hate her. LOL. She was insulted because POTUS only met with Republicans today.

Yep, and the deemorats are about as touchy as the Muslims. Come to think about it, the two have quite a lot in common.

It doesn't matter how they voted. The GOP is going to back them anyway in the name of maintaining their pointless majority. Lincoln Chafee, anyone?

Did you keep Gibby on? Did you just hear the muslim leader IN OHIO saying the US made 9/11 happen?

Just fyi, I do not endorse using nukes and should have made my self clear when I used the A-bomb example. People still scream we lost our values when those events occurred which is why I mentioned it.

Graham thinks he's gonna be in the next administration in some cabinet post. I guess he thinks a Demonrat will win. They love him over at the DNC. I hope him and McCain are sent packing on their re-election campaigns. How DARE they run as Republicans!
