Washington, DC-Military supporters from around the country will gather in support for the Second Annual Support the Troops and Their Mission Weekend in Washington, D.C. from September 22-23, 2006. The grassroots effort by military family members, veterans and other patriotic Americans will honor and celebrate the progress made by the men and women defending our nation in the Global War on Terror.
Events will begin on the morning of Friday, September 22 as supporters visit congressional offices to encourage congressional members to support America's efforts to defeat violent Islamic fascism in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world. That evening, at 7 p.m. supporters will gather at the main gate to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave., NW, Washington, D.C., in a show of appreciation for the sacrifices made by wounded soldiers and their families to protect Americans from terrorism. The gathering that evening will mark the 75th consecutive Friday of the Walter Reed troop support gathering.
The Support the Troops and Their Mission Rally will be held on Saturday, September 23 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument. The speakers will feature Gold Star and Blue Star family members, as well as veterans and other notables. The theme of the rally will be victory in the Global War on Terror.

BUMP to the absolute top!
We were fortunate to get the Sylvan Theatre site.
Now all we need are Freepers and like-minded friends to come to the rally.
Will YOU be there?
There is room enough for everyone to lay out a blanket and enjoy the rally.
For our rally, this low retaining wall makes for a great place for our kids to sit and watch the rally from.
With the gentle slope of the hill facing the Sylvan Theatre, everybody will have a great view of the stage. And the sound system will carry up the hill without difficulty.
After the rally, you can do some sightseeing. Looking at this photo, if you follow the sidewalk (behind my camera), the WWII Memorial, Vietnam Memorial and Korean War Memorial are all just a very short walk away.
Kristinn, Congressman Mike Bilirakis and Congressman Bill Young from Florida are great supporters of our troops ....wonder if they would like to say a few words at the Rally...
