I think a lot of people are still mad about illegal immigration, spending, Iraq, etc., but are looking at the Dems' primary results and constant tinfoil-hat rhetoric and thinking the alternatives to the Repubs are damn scary.

It's all pretty simple. Presidential approval ratings have been almost directly inversely proportional to the price of gasoline for as long as I can remember.

That is pretty good for a President midway through his second term. Ras is still a little on the high side compared to other polsters, but they are all trending upwards.

Which FReeper was it that made the chart showing gas prices-Presidendet Approval numbers and their relationship? That was really an eye opening chart. Wish they would do another one.

Which is pretty freaking scary if one is honest with oneself. I am as partisan as the come but it's not too cool if a monopoly can jerk the electorate around like a puppet on a string. There's the evidence, the President is responsible for the price of gasoline. If he can't manage it, he can't stay in office.
