Gunman and young woman die in Mtl. shooting spree

The man who opened fire at a Montreal college on Wednesday, killing one and leaving 19 wounded before being shot dead by police, has been identified.
Montreal's La Presse newspaper identified the trenchcoat-clad man as 25-year-old Kimveer Gill, of Laval. Police have not confirmed the man's identity.
The shooter had a Mohawk haircut and wore head-to-toe black clothing when he stormed into the cafeteria of Dawson College in the city's downtown just before 1 p.m. ET Wednesday shooting 20 students.
One of the victims died in hospital from her injuries. There were mixed reports about her age and police would not confirm her identity.
As horrific as the shooting was it could have easily been much worse. A police officer outside the college saw the gunman enter the building and police arrived at the scene three minutes after the man opened fire.
The 25-year-old gunman, who carried an automatic rifle and two other guns -- which were all legally registered firearms -- was shot dead as he tried to leave the school.
A blog maintained by Gill contains more than 50 photos depicting the young man in various poses holding a Baretta CX4 Storm semi-automatic rifle and wearing a long black trenchcoat and boots.
"His name is Trench. you will come to know him as the Angel of Death," he wrote on his profile on vampirefreaks.com, an online hub of goth culture.
The blog paints a dark portrait of the man.
"He is not a people person. He has met a handfull (sic) of people in his life who are decent." But he writes that he finds the vast majority to be "worthless, no good, kniving, betraying lieing (sic), deceptive."
The last of Gill's six journal entries Wednesday was posted at 10:41 a.m, just two hours before the gunman was shot dead after the college shooting.
Police had earlier believed there were as many as four gunmen.

I don't know, but this rightist's take on it is that it's pretty pathetic that of the huge number of people who witnessed this at close range, the criminal was apparently the ONLY one in possession of a gun.
In the Sandal Bar region of Punjab (Pakistan), "Kakkar Gill" was the only prominent Gill village. The Gills settled in Jhang, Montgomery (today's Sahiwal) and Shahpur also converted to Islam

Easy. Ban more guns. Clearly, the gun banning registry works, as he didn't use any illegal firearms.

The difference is that for most people who participate in websites like that, it's a game. There are always a few who view it as reality. I don't think sites like that are particularly wholesome, but I don't think they're populated primarily by wannabe murderers. No doubt investigation will find that there were numerous warnings signs over several years that this guy was dangerously unstable, but nobody took any effective action.
Yeah, that made me wonder whether the misspellings were weirdball Kimveer's or the newspapers... best guess, Kimveer misspelled it on his weirdball blog, and the paper, knowing as much of guns as a toad knows thermodynamics, just copied it.
What kind of name is Kimveer anyway? I have known Gills of three different heritages (but mostly anglo, and then hindi). I will say that while this is obviously infantile Goth acting-out, it did have earmarks of Sudden Jihad Syndrome, so I can't blame people who were suspicious.
After all, most of the pointless violence in the world today is inspired by the Koran, commanded by an imam, and funded by Saudi princelings. If they don't like the reputation, they should stop backing the crime.
