My exact sentiments. The experience has changed me in many ways...I'm talking about assisted suicide...there was no reason for mom to suffer the way she did in the last few days and weeks. Nor was there any reason that my father, who took care of her to the very end, should have had his emotional health and financial viability endangered.
Mom's doctors were of no help...It was Hospice of New York that offered the help and comfort we needed.

Although Mom's doctor really cared about her, there was nothing he could do. Once she got the blood clot in her leg and was confined to bed, we knew it was just a matter of time. At least there, she was peaceful. When she was still ambulatory, it was a trip. The mood swings from violent to sweet as pie were tough on her and us. The broken bones from banging things, refusals to take meds... I had the night shift so my sister could go to work. Had to watch the night wanderings.
You went through it. You know. After we lost Dad in a home after being there for 3 days, we swore Mom would stay with us. She passed in my sister's house with the two of us, her grand and great grand daughters at her side.
