President Bush has more class and dignity in his little pinky than all the Democrats in America put together.
Sad that someone lives their life with so much contempt for certain people(ie conservatives)and dies with that hate.
Will they boo him at the Funeral?
I know it may not sound charitable, but I hope she died better than she lived. That was a dirty campaign against Bush for the governorship.
Ms. Richards. RIP
I for one never voted for her or liked her. President Bush has much more class than I.
Though I held her politics with great disdain, I hated to hear of her passing.
FYI
'Ma Richards' was a socialist pig - no more.
Condolences to her family, but I still wonder if Bush's main weaknesses is being to nice to those who want to destroy him.
I hope the President does attend her funeral, if asked by the family. It will show his class, and his willingness to put partisan politics aside to honor the life and service of Ann Richards. I didn't particularly like her, or agree with her politics, and maybe the President didn't either, but he knows how to respond with dignity at a rival's passing.
"In a statement issued by the White House, the president said he and first lady Laura Bush "are deeply saddened by the passing of Governor Ann Richards of Texas."
Bush's statement is much nicer than she deserved and much nicer than her comment would be if the situation was reversed.
With all due respect to Mrs. Richards, I don't mean to belittle her passing. But...I am beginning to think that the DNC sacrafices one of their liberal stars each election season to profit politically. Just like they accuse Bush to push national security for political gain.
The difference is that national security is a serious issue, while rememberence love-fest is more about mythical ideology than anything else.
Again, no disrespect to the deceased. It just seems to be a pattern recently.
He will give a respectful and thoughtful response to her death, the Dems will spit in his eye, and the media will conclude he is back-stabbing low-life who made the moment of her death into a political statement. I only pray they turn her funeral into an another Wellstone Nazi Rally. They need to drag out Leni for this one.
Very nice and kind for a "jerk", don't you think?
(In the 1994 gubernatorial campaign, Ann's campaign slogan was "Beat the Jerk")
For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
September 14, 2006President Saddened by Passing of Former Texas Governor Ann Richards
Laura and I are deeply saddened by the passing of Governor Ann Richards of Texas. Ann loved Texas, and Texans loved her. As a public servant she earned respect and admiration. Ann became a national role model, and her charm, wit, and candor brought a refreshing vitality to public life. We extend our sympathies to Ann's family and friends. Texas has lost one of its great daughters.
