I think RWTB said it pretty well in the post above:
... We can no longer afford their cheap labor and the more they they whine the more attention they draw to the enormous damage illegal immigration is doing to this country
Oh thank you sweet cowgirl.......and not "plain wrap" either : )
"AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE?????"
Uh, no, you missed nothing!

You should hear them in upstate NY. For years they did fine without illegals now all of a sudden they realized how beneficial that cheap labor is to their bottom line and can't live without it. They've even got Hillary shilling for them, it's pathetic. I'd rather there be no farms then to see this part of the country go the way of California and the rest of the border states.
There's not one mention by Mr. Pasternak or anyone else pushing "comprehensive reform" as to who pays the social costs for all their cheap labor. That means it's us.
LOL.
I tried to find a good image for "Puffs Plus" (those are REALLY good!) instead of plain old Kleenex.
Only the best for a fellow conservative!
Thouest melt my heart. Great tagline, by the way! I like P J
Thanks!
BTW: Low yields are good for the quality of the wine. Think of it as "thinning the herd."
Oenology news/labor ping.
Classic supply and demand, commensurate on quality. You can easily spend hundreds of $$ on a world-class Australian bottle of wine if you so desired.
So would you say that the high-quality, highly-demanded wines of California are capable of bringing in enough $$ for the wine producers to employ grape harvesters who are in the country legally?
Rather certain of that, we're not talking large quantities.
Boutique, expensive wines ought not be compared to mass agriculture.
>"We bought a machine. There is a way, and we will get the grapes in," said Rich Schaefers, general manager of the Mendocino Vineyard Co.
This would seem to imply that cheap labor in the past has slowed the introduction of labor-multiplying machinery.
There are plenty of illegals in Ventura County boys...although they have set a $15/hour minimum wage for themselves, 8 hour minimum, plus two meals
The grapes in our store are CA during the season, and Chilean out of season. The CA growers have bought up a lot of the Chilean companies.
