September 13, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Taliban terror leaders who had gathered for a funeral - and were secretly being watched by an eye-in-the-sky American drone - dodged assassination because U.S. rules of engagement bar attacks in cemeteries, according to a shocking report. U.S. intelligence officers in Afghanistan are still fuming about the recent lost opportunity for an easy kill of Taliban honchos packed in tight formation for the burial, NBC News reported.

Any Rule of Engagement that prevents our forces from inflicting massive damage on our enemies is a bravo sierra RoE. A RoE should not be a suicide pact.
Yes, and I assume you have a point.
I'll repeat it for the folks in remedial reading class:
"We now have the potential for each of these barbarians to kill several of our guys."
Got it!
I was looking for this on the Fox News website, but couldn't find it. Does anyone know if this story appears anywhere else besides NY Post?
[This will be a key scene in the movie commemorating the path to the next terrorist attack.]
You're right, and Bush will get the blame as complicated storylines "confuse" the viewer./sarc
I wonder if any cemeteries were desecrated when we dropped the bomb on Japan, twice? I have a feeling there were.
Perhaps your attendance at a basic writing course would be more appropriate.
Yep. The Roman military was decimated over a period of years - the average citizen no longer joined the military, but had their slaves conscripted for service instead. The Roman people had become increasingly hedonistic and narcissistic. The political leaders were corrupt, yada, yada, yada (in Rome, of course :))
"am I the only one who reads a "Setup" in these items?"
Yes. You give credit where none is due. It's hard to believe Washington is really that PC, but sadly its true.
I agree...RoE's in Vietnam were outstandingly stupid, and cost thousands of lives.
I don't think this even compares. Even the Israelis respect terrorist funerals...at Arafat's, they could have taken the majority of them out with one bomb.
there is some discussion about whether this entire story is true or not - note that the only source is conveniently "unnamed".
not everyone agrees that this story is true.
"Western Civilization's tombstone is going to read, "Killed by Political Correctness."
Yeah, we have become too nice to win anymore wars.
On Fox and Friends, they just held up the NY Post cover when talking about it. I haven't seen it sourced anywhere else.
This now establishes a rewrite of the rules here in America:
If you kill someone and the cops chase you, go hide in a cemetary or a church. The cops can't touch you.
... But that isn't the way it works, is it? If you kill someone and hide in a cemetary the cops will enter the cemetary and capture/kill you. So, apparently, protecting savages in a cemetary is good enough for the Taliban, but not for American citizens.
I don't know about A.Hun, but I can tell you with a clear conscience and a loud, booming voice, I'm absolutely, utterly, ireconcilably against killing dead people.
:-)
They ought to find those responsible for this stupidity and shoot them on principle...those who sculpted the rules, and those who were unwilling to unleash the Hellfires. What a bunch of freakin' morons.

We fight a PC war because the DOD caters to the State Department.
America's biggest weakness in the war on terror is the State Department.
