Rep. Ben Cardin led Kweisi Mfume, former head of the NAACP, in Maryland's primary Tuesday, as voters cast their ballots to determine who would be the Democratic Senate candidate in November's election. The seat is currently held by Sen. Paul Sarbanes, who is retiring after nearly 30 years in the Senate.
--snip--
With 85 percent of precincts reporting, Cardin was leading Mfume, with 45 percent of the vote to Mfumes 39 percent, or 194,364 votes to 169,953 votes.

Steele in November! And pray for a landslide, so the Dems can't challenge the vote count!

I was kind of hoping Kwasi would win. Then, the voters would have had to choose between an upstanding citizen and a former street thug.

Now, will Black voters in Maryland see this as the last straw and vote for Mike or stay home, or do a business as usual and vote rat?
Any ideas from Freepers on the ground?

I live in Southern Maryland, Not one Frizell Gray (Kweasy)sign was seen among the many political posters. I guess he didnt even bother to run down here and counted on PG and Baltimore to swing things his way.
Steele for senate.

Fox just reported that due to voting irregularities the race is too close to call.
I'm sure it is Bush's fault.

Even when DemonRats run against each other, there are "voting irregularities." It looks like the old Saigon race track where nobody could guess the outcome because everybody involved was doping the horses.

I also live in Southern Maryland - Calvert County. Saw plenty of Mfume signs. Glad he did not win. I like what one Freeper wrote - that is what you get when you play Scrabble while on crack!

This is very interesting. I did not expect that Mfume (Frizzel Grey) would do as well against Cardin with the old boy Democrat machinery grinding along.
This means that November is going to be a hot race. I really do believe that Steele has a big chance to beat Cardin. Maryland know that Cardin is another dull witted machine politician.
Fingers crossed for the "Land of Pleasant Living".

I saw Cardin ads on TV over and over until I wanted to barf. Not one TV spot for Mfume did I ever see.
Only thing I ever saw for Mfume was bumperstickers on cars.
And most of those bumperstickers are as old as the Kerry-Edwards stickers right next to them. :D
Silly me, I thought Kweisi considered himself a serious candidate...
To: hellinahandcart
It takes money to run ads. Cardin had it, Mfume didn't. Money is the mother's milk of politics.

I lived in St. Mary's County, worked at PAX River. A couple of years ago moved back to Georgia. I liked Maryland, except for the politics. Called it the People's Republic of MD. I was amazed that Counties had an income tax! The taxes in Georgia are definitely lower, and I haven't noticed a difference in the quality of highways, services, etc. UGA and Georgia Tech are highly ranked Universities, and equal or better than U of M.
I also disliked the MD voting law that made it illegal to ask voters for their ID. NO wonder voter fraud in Baltimore is huge. I remember how they stole Saubrey's election.
I cannot believe the Cardin would be elected, he is so liberal. Of course MD is very liberal.

Have all of Queezy's children been counted yet? He's got enough bastard children to be a small precinct.
