Excerpts... Americas newest Muslims arrive in the afternoon crunch at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Their planes land from Dubai, Casablanca and Karachi. They stand in line, clasping documents. They emerge, sometimes hours later, steering their carts toward a flock of relatives,... This was the path for Nur Fatima, a Pakistani woman who moved to Brooklyn six months ago and promptly shed her hijab. Through the same doors walked Nora Elhainy,....Ahmed Youssef, an Egyptian who settled in Jersey City, where he gives the call to prayer at a palatial mosque. I got freedom in this country, said Ms. Fatima, 25. Freedom of everything. Freedom of thought. .... The events of Sept. 11 transformed life for Muslims in the United States, and the flow of immigrants from countries like Egypt, Pakistan and Morocco thinned sharply. But five years later, as the United States wrestles with questions of terrorism, civil liberties and immigration control, Muslims appear to be moving here again in surprising numbers, according to statistics collected by the Department of Homeland Security and the Census Bureau.... ...In 2005, more people from Muslim countries became legal permanent United States residents nearly 96,000 than in any year in the previous two decades. More than 40,000 of them were admitted last year, the highest annual number since the terrorist attacks, according to data on 22 countries provided by the Department of Homeland Security. Many have made the journey unbowed by tales of immigrant hardship, and despite their own opposition to American policy in the Middle East... they still come here because the United States offers what theyre missing at home. ........

**I don't recall our government allowing nearly 100,000 Nazi and Fascists to immigrate here during World War II>**
Me either. Unsettling information.
We are clearly suicidal.
The Frank Amendment to Ted Kennedy's Immigration Bill hard at work destroying America. To HELL with them both!
Our Government better wise up and quit allowing potential terrorists in. Just because a muslim name has not made the terror watch list does not mean he/she is not a terrorists
Disgusting. Once they immigrate they live in their own tight communities, don't assimilate, and declare the US an infidel society. Geesh we are so stupid.
We admitted over 10,000 Saudi "students" to attend college this year. I feel much "safer" now. Thanks a lot, Bush.
We're at a saturation point with Muslim immigration. If they so desire "changes" towards freedom, they need to make them at home so they learn to walk before they run. Free and fair elections in Iraq was a perfect start. My prediction is they'll be overwhelmed with the amount of freedom they discover here (all at once) and could backlash to their primitive 7th century ways as a safety blanket.
There is no benefit to this country associated with a huge flood of Muslim immigrants. The exception being people whom we find with specific information who need asylum.

Pretty outrageous, isn't it? Don't forget to thank the State Department for this one.
As much as I love President Bush, I cannot understand WHY he would allow this. WHY? Haven't we learned our lesson over the last 20+ years? Letting 100,000 Muslims into our great and precious country is something that is going to get innocent people KILLED.
Yet another good reason to stop immigration.

Agreed...we need to pay closer attention to the problems associated with this over-saturation in Europe, specifically, "Londonistan".
Yup. Let's continue to import a fifth column. We may as well walk out into the street and cut our own throats now.
This absolutely needs to be stopped cold.
Our children and grandchildren are going to condemn our failure to do what we know we must do.
We're in 100% agreement concerning the "Londonistan" parallels. The other important component is that we should be seeking who gains entry into our country...not letting them get into a queue...or even sneaking over the southern border. Good post.

Unfortunately, I don't think President Bush can decide how many can come here. That is probably written into law. I'm not sure about this, and maybe some freeper can enlighten us. But I seriously doubt he makes that decision.
I suspect it is the state department, operating under laws passed by our congressmen.
Could this be a new plan of attacks unfolding before our eyes?
"The upstate New York town of Hancock serves as the American headquarters for al-Fuqra, with at least six major rural communities, jamaats, of 200 to 300 members located in Red House, Va., Tulare County, Calif., Commerce, Ga., York, S.C., Dover, Tenn., and Combermere, Canada," he writes. "Total membership in al-Fuqra is believed to be between one and three thousand, with smaller jamaats being reported in over 25 locations throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. The communities themselves are primarily walled or fenced-in gatherings of trailers or mobile homes. At least three of the compounds are known to have firing ranges, and the compound in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California has a fully functional airfield."
I have relatives who live near there. Before 9/11/2001, they used to hear rifle and machine-gun fire up there. These people's kids were trouble-makers so they eventually pulled them out of the schools and now teach them in their compound. The relatives took us up that way once and there is a check-point back in the woods a bit with several muslims at the entrance, walking back and forth. We sat and watched them from our car and they watched us. It was weird.
Something just isn't right here. (Understatement of the year!)
Someone yesterday on a local radio station mentioned that when you got your citizenship in the past....it would ask if you "would take up arms for your country (USA)?" They thought that question had been removed.....anyone here know?
I don't think Bush is doing this, merely doing nothing to stop it. It is Congress that has set up and maintained this insane policy.
