Notoriously independent-minded Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee confronts stiff opposition Tuesday in his bid for a second term, the latest race with a moderate targeted by his own party's hard-line critics.
While a total of nine states and Washington, D.C., were holding primary elections, Chafee's race is drawing the most attention as another test of the depth of anti-incumbent sentiment and the erosion of the political middle ground.
Update courtesy of RobFromGa in #70:
Here are websites where you can find the results for eight of the nine primaries being held today. The link for Vermont may not be working just yet. I believe it should be up and running by this evening.
Here's the SOS site, but I don't see at a glance that it has any election results. Guess we'll have to go with a TV or newspaper site.

Spencer won! :)
I am hoping for a Cardin win. The Dems are split along racial lines, which should translate into a comfortable Cardin win. Funny, but race does matter in the Dem primaries, but not in the general election, especially if the GOP candidate is black. IMO Steele garners some of the disgruntled black votes in November.
Not at least 5. That'd actually be tied for the largest lead I've seen. I've seen 2-5.
I guess the Dems may well have to spend more money in the RI Senate race than they would have preferred.
Dear got_moab?
Remember, Baltimore City always gets the last at bat.
It depends on who controlled the dead in Baltimore City tonight.

For the Senate seat in Delaware they are R (to run against Tom Carper) for the House seat they are D (to run against Mike Castle).
C-Span2 says 54-46 Chafee with 46% in.
It's possible. And Baltimore City, which closes later than the rest of the state, is where Mfume is the strongest.
There's not much difference between Castle and a Democrat, anyway.
Whoa! I've been sort of following the Republican Senatorial primary, and I didn't realize Protack was tracking so closely to Protack. If I still was a Delaware resident, I probably would have voted for O'Donnell, even though she isn't a native (though, if I recall correctly, none of them are!). I've met both Ting and her (in DC actually, on separate occasions), and I got a better impression from O'Donnell.
Kool! Thanks. So far, the RI SOS page is busted. Incompetent losers.
Chafee is pulling fairly impressive numbers, if this site is accurate (I am about 90% sure it is). The NRSC did a pretty impressive job of handling his campaign, if it stays the way it is now.
I see them!
I mean Protack and Ting, of course. ;-)
Here's a more complete address (no need to follow links)

I think Laffey was always behind the entire race.
Actually, it's more interesting in the math. With 55 seats, we have a 10-8 lead on many committees. WIth 51 seats, it's usually 10-9. So it looks like it would be better to have Chafee and a 2-vote lead.
BUT, with 10-8, chafee flips and it's 9-9, which means things don't get out of committee.
With chafee GONE, we win the 10-9 vote. If Chafee would simply promise to ABSTAIN when he is against us in committee, he'd be OK, but as a vote against us he's worse than a democrat because we had to give him the seat on committee.
