[history]
Notoriously independent-minded Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee confronts stiff opposition Tuesday in his bid for a second term, the latest race with a moderate targeted by his own party's hard-line critics.
While a total of nine states and Washington, D.C., were holding primary elections, Chafee's race is drawing the most attention as another test of the depth of anti-incumbent sentiment and the erosion of the political middle ground.
Update courtesy of RobFromGa in #70:
Here are websites where you can find the results for eight of the nine primaries being held today. The link for Vermont may not be working just yet. I believe it should be up and running by this evening.

Just returned from voting, I was #395 in my precinct (Laffey lives a few streets over from me) and they were just cracking open another package of Republican ballots as I left. Man, I think this is gonna be close, it could be long night.

I will take your word for it. As relating to voting for Muslims, I was speaking only in the most general of terms. As for appreciating Ellison's defense/apology for associating with Farrakhan, I was speaking only specifically to that one action of his.

You, (or somebody) should file a lawsuit against the state or the County, whom printed the ballots and materials if they used tax monies for that.

How can you get real excited about a Laffey win? I'm not criticizing, I just don't understand the satisfaction that is gained.
Do you think he has any chance at all in the general? I mean I can't stand Chafee, but I can't stand the thought of a liberal Democrat either.

Is anybody else following the Maryland CD-3 Republican primary between the solid conservative John White and RINO Gary Applebaum?

Let us know the latest when you get back! Thanks.

They must have moved it up when polls starting closing, because it wasn't there. (Or else it's my blindness -- LOL!)

They announced it this afternoon about 2 o'clock that the polls would stay open an extra hour in that one county.

Dear RobFromGa,
Baltimore City is extended until 9 pm, as well.
Many of the dead don't like to come out and vote before it gets good and dark.

Check this out. It's a compilation of first-hand experiences by Maryland voters, most of them Montgomery County Democrats. The general sense one gets is that incompetence and confusion reigned at many precincts. Their leftist sympathies notwithstanding, I believe their anger is justified.

I'm in the Midwest (Central time). Have any state's closed their polling places yet?
