Mexican soldiers and police officers made more than 200 unauthorized incursions into U.S. territory from 1996 to Sept. 30, 2005, according to internal Homeland Security intelligence reports.
The annual intelligence summaries of "Mexican Government Incidents" were released Monday by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, which obtained them through a Freedom of Information Act request and circulated detailed reports from 2003, 2004 and 2005.
The annual bulletins convey the chaos and danger of the border and the heart-wrenching losses for some of those trying to cross it.
Cooperation and confrontation are described between U.S. border agents and Mexican military or police, as when a Texas border agent on a river rescue mission radioed colleagues to say Mexican soldiers had trained their rifles in his direction. Also depicted are Mexican helicopters entering deep into U.S. territory and drug smugglers seemingly working under the escort of Mexican military boats.
Some summaries, including one describing the retrieval of the limp body of a 12-year-old Mexican girl who tried to cross the All-American Canal in El Centro, Calif., powerfully convey the desperation of would-be immigrants.
"People have a cartoonish view of the border. They don't realize how bad the violence is, the exploitation," said Christopher Farrell, Judicial Watch director of research and investigation. "It's pretty steady. It endangers people trying to protect the border and the people trying to cross."
The reports were not deliberately timed for release on Sept. 11, a Judicial Watch spokeswoman said.
The reports are available at http://www.JudicialWatch.org .

Nice day to bury the story.
Can't we shoot foreign military invaders?
Where is Blackjack Pershing when you need him.
This story will die a quick death.
We are allowing the socialist/communist economy of Mexico to continue. Within 5 years of shutting the border there would be a revolution and a true democracy would develop. There would be tons of blood letting which might not be such a bad thing.... It would be a lot less than in Iraq, because Mexico is a Christian society and the small ruling class isn't as popular as the Shi'ite or Sunni sects are at securing loyalty.
If President Bush wants to promulgate "freedom" throughout the world, he might want to start in Central America.

Which goes to prove one of my basic underlying beliefs - that Texas mexicans are fundamentally different than So. Cal. mexicans.
Or, to cite post number three - you obviously don't live in southern California.
I do agree with you on the result of a border lock-down (and on Frito Pie) but the gangsters and large scale criminal operations south of the border would make shia/sinni mutual distruction look tame.
The people vieing for control are not a part of any 'Christian society'.
you should see what they can do with machetes when they get in arguments with each other.
my grandpa told me that once the campesinos can't feed their family, there's revolution. That's why most of the "hard-working" Mexicans that come over don't b#tch to much. If you feed their family they are loyal to the "patron". If you screw with their family.... they will kill you, your kids and all the rest of your household.
Usually the blood feuds in the past involved killing all the males of your rivals. ...that way when they grow up they won't come and kill you.
pretty standard stuff actually.
Mexico is a pretty brutal country actually. I guess but my pop trained some men from Puerto Rico and told me that they were some of the best fighter he's trained... and god help us if we ever had to invade Puerto Rico.... He told me that they were like the Texans of the Latin American countries...very proud of their island. It's funny but some of my friends that are Puerto Ricans really, really hate being called "mexicans"...hahahahahahhahaha..same with Cubans.
That really goes to show the "myth" of the "Latin American" vote..... you've got peasants from the jungles of Central America, professionals from Cuba, urban city dwellers from Puerto Rico and Argentina....and the Democrats think that they're one monolithic group.... what a frickin joke.... there are conservative and liberals just like "white" America... and a lot of the Texans of Mexican heritage (myself included) hate being labeled as hyphenated Americans. My mom's family has been in this great country for over 200 years..at least that's what the church in her neighborhood says.
It's dangerous walking onto a freeway, too.
Some folks just seem to know that.
