Its funny, this thread has really made me remember all the studying I would do on Afghistan and where I was. Be it in HS reading about the feats of the Stinger in the hands of the freedom fighters, arguing with a Professor in college over the Soviet imposed gov which took forever to fall once the Soviets left to reading articles about Taliban victories while on break from work in kitchens.

Hal knows where all that pre-911 stuff is as he posted a lot of it. We also had (have?) a poster with a screen name of Jeep_in_mazaar or something similar who left is jeep there just before spending time on this forum. He had a lot of interesting stuff as well.

Here is one of them about the hit prior to his being declared killed, but I also think there was a post about the appointment of bin Laden just after this by a day or less.
